ALL ABOUT AUSTIN | |
Austin Insights Recap
The Austin Insights reception on Monday May 7thnight at the beautiful Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum was a huge success! We had a good turnout of members, non-members, and partnering organizations, along with our Board of Directors from Dallas who traveled to Austin for the event. We always appreciate their involvement in our regional events so that everyone has a chance to get to know each other and have the opportunity to do business together. I saw several meetings being planned, bid opportunities being discussed, and some good dialog between suppliers and buyers. And one of the biggest highlights of the day was the workshop presented by Dell, our Title Sponsor, on "Why You Have to be Social." Two of Dell's social media experts presented an exciting, interactive program that was discussed by everyone for the rest of the evening.
Our successful event could not have been possible without the help and sponsorship of our Corporate and WBE members and friends. Dell was the Title sponsor for the entire event, along with Fluor and Alcatel-Lucent as Underwriter sponsors, Aztec Promotional Products, CFj Manufacturing, and ICON Information Consultants as Diamond sponsors, along with Team Building Solutions, Communication by Hand, Native Nations Procurement Systems, Paperclip Promotions, and Social Media Delivered as Friends of the Council sponsors. We appreciate everyone's support of the Women's Business Council - Southwest!

DFW TABLE TOPICS | |
Grace After Fire
Helping Women Veterans Return to Civilian
Life and Employment
Through Community and WBE Resources
Colonel Kim Olson, president of Grace After Fire will discuss women veterans returning to the U.S. and the obstacles of gaining employment and the challenges of transitioning to civilian life when they arrive.
Through this organization's efforts, and by educating the DFW region, they hope to help women veterans gain support and guidance to reach their full potential in their communities, their families, and in the workplace.
Our invitation to Kim and her organization was to start dialogues, when appropriate, about helping, hiring and mentoring women veterans. This wish to help our Women Warriors become entrepreneurs and business women can be part of our Community Solution to giving back to those who have "worked for us in a foreign land."
We are inviting 10 women veterans that are associated with Grace After Fire to be guests of WBCS for this luncheon and receive a "small gift of appreciation" for their service.
Please attend this event to meet them!
