ALL ABOUT AUSTIN

We had a fantastic luncheon on Tuesday January 31st.  Marny Lifshen, local author and marketing consultant spoke on "Promoting The BEST You" which gave us the two key components of successful promotion of our careers - a strong personal brand and a diverse and powerful network.

We gave away copies of Marny's book, Some Assembly Required: A Networking Guide for Women,  to two lucky winners - Anne Harutunian from Harutunian Engineering, Inc. and Patti Winstanley from Aztec Promotional Group, both Austin members.

Richard Moore from Southwest Airlines gave a presentation on how to do business with Southwest Airlines, which included information on registering in their database, some of the products and services they source, and gave everyone brochures on their Supplier Diversity program and how to get in touch with him for assistance.

Debbie Hurst, WBCS President, was our special guest at the luncheon this month, and everyone really enjoyed getting the chance to meet her.  It was a great time for Debbie to be able to put a face to a name with our members, and to meet some of our wonderful Council supporters in the Austin area.

We had a record number of attendees at our BookPeople location, and really great food from Emily's Catering.

The next Austin Council Connection will be held on February 28th.

April Fossey, Business Relationship Manager at BBVA Compass Bank will be speaking on financial planning for small business.  It should be a very informative presentation that our members won't want to miss.
