Greetings!
Wow, fall is off with a bang! So much going on...I'm very thrilled to report 17 castings in this Newsletter--WOW, I'm so proud of all of my students! Keep up the amazing work and have an incredible time on whatever project you're working on. Please visit Student News below. I'm also beyond pleased to share with you a personal acting project on which I've embarked. You may have wondered where my last two BookThat Job eZine articles have been??? Pardon me, I've been up against some hard deadlines over the past two weeks regarding the new solo show I am creating! This has long been a dream and I am so happy to be making it a reality. Later this week, I will be presenting a 20-minute workshop segment of what is currently called Made of Glass. This is a first giant step of many, many steps and I will look forward to sending an official invite out when the show has progressed even further. And in terms of the eZine, I will be back to writing those and you can expect the next one in your e-mail box next Tuesday, October 9. Thanks for your patience! Be sure to check out all the happenings below...much going on regarding Laser Acting Workshop, Acting Class, Book Club for Actors' and (hard to believe it's nearly this time of year again!) Leap with Passion into 2013's dates have been announced and early registration has begun. Tremendous blessings for a radiant October! Rhonda Rhonda S. Musak Acting Coach Art & Soul Acting |

Laser Acting Workshop: October 24
Monthly acting workshops...expand, explore, express!
Sub-Personality: Letting Your Unconscious Lead the Way
One of the most amazing acting tools I have discovered is a little-known piece of work called Sub-Personality. The power of this mighty acting tool is found in the unconscious mind. The Sub-Personality Process allows actors to transcend what they consciously know and tap into a field of life and expression that often lives off the radar. Sub-Personality is especially valuable when working on a role that seems-for whatever reason-unfamiliar or daunting. Utilizing this tool successfully helps actors get out of their own way so they can enter into the world of a character through safe exploration and have fun while doing so.
In this workshop, participants will:
- experience the Sub-Personality Process
- learn the components of how to think about this tool and use it in their own work
- experience using a Sub-Personality with a piece of text of their choosing
Workshop Preparation: Please bring in a piece of memorized text-a monologue, a poem or a song-that you are excited to work on. Challenge yourself and bring in something that might feel inaccessible or beyond your reach.
WHEN: Wednesday, October 24, 6:30-9:30
WHERE: NYC West Village studio location will be sent along with registration confirmation.
FEE: $35

What's Going on with Acting Class?
For an actor, acting class is the #1 laboratory for growth and exploration. It is the place to take risks...a safe harbor where it's okay to let go of perfection in lieu of stretching and expanding beyond limitations.
Art & Soul Acting is growing and expanding and we are thrilled to launch our Boutique Acting Classes!
Boutique Acting Classes
- Do have an idea for a class that you would like? Great!
- Are you a group of students looking for a specific class? Great!
- Do you have a limited schedule and need a class built around you? Great!
If you can dream it, we can build it. Boutique Acting Classes offer students the flexibility to design their own classes in the timing that suits them.
Classes can either be held in person in NYC, or in the New York Metro region or they can be held online via Skype.
If you have an idea for a class you would like or would like to join one of my Boutique Acting Classes already in progress, please e-mail or call here.
We'd love to hear your ideas and explore the possibilities!

What's Up with the Book Club for Actors'?
Remaining reading time - 2.5 weeks!
On Monday, October 15 & Saturday, October 20 we will be discussing the plays of David Lindsay-Abaire. The Book Club for Actors' is offered twice; please choose either meeting:
WHEN: Monday, October 15, 7-9:00 - East Village OR
Saturday, October 20, 3-5:00 - East Village
WHERE: Location will be e-mailed with RSVP confirmation
Please begin by reading Rabbit Hole. After that, feel free to read any play from the David Lindsay-Abaire Reading List found on the Art & Soul Acting website: David Lindsay-Abaire Reading List . For the most robust conversation, participants are asked to read at least 3-4 plays.
Be ready to share what you have discovered about this amazing playwright so we can all learn and grow together.
Looking forward to it!

The 3 E's: An Actor's Guideline to Knowing Which Projects to Say Yes To

While I was in school, I had the great fortune to study with the wonderful Pilar Garcia for a brief time. Ms. Garcia is a phenomenal movement teacher, kind of heart and an inspiration. Not only did she inspire our bodies to move with precision, she also imparted to us something she called "The 3 E's"-essentially, a guideline to use when determining if an offered project/role is worth the time and effort...

The Audition Mindset That Will Change Your Life

Actors have been told a thousand times over that they must have confidence when they walk into an audition room. That's great! Yes!! It is well agreed that that must be so. However, that's usually where the conversation ends, leaving actors hanging and wondering exactly what it means and how to go about creating this mystical and magical dream realm called "confidence" ...
