This Actor Prepares
by Rhonda Musak
Inspired by James Devereaux' s "The Great Acting Blog"*, it' s finally time to unfurl my wings and put my money where my mouth is and write about what I teach: acting technique.
To assist me is my most recent acting project. It was delivered to me as a bit of a challenge: step into two performances of a role in a new play with the bare minimum of rehearsal with the cast. My uber challenge: to be 100% alive, free and fully present while doing so.
Having taught acting for 12 years and acting for even more years than that, I've developed a particular way I like to work. This project, I knew, had several factors which would keep me from doing so: #1 When I was offered the role, the script was not yet finished; #2 a long-planned vacation fell within my preparation time; #3 I am greatly challenged by quick line memorization; #4 I had no idea how much actual rehearsal time I would have with the cast.

Greetings! As November greets us with its shorter days and warmer coats, so too does it offer a final deep focus opportunity before the holidays begin in earnest.
Art & Soul Acting is pleased to offer many wonderful ways to assist you in getting the most out of November.
The November 10 Laser Acting Workshop is an opportunity to strengthen audition skills; the Book Club for Actors' focuses on the absolutely magical plays of Jean Giraudoux; and Leap with Passion into 2012!!! is announced-this one-of-a-kind workshop which completes 2011 so you can create just what you would love to create for 2012.
Hope to see you at any and all events!
With gratitude and thanksgiving- Rhonda Rhonda S. Musak Acting Coach Art & Soul Acting |

Laser Acting Workshop: November 10
Monthly acting workshops...expand, explore, express!
Who Are You When You Step into an Audition Room?
WHEN: Thursday, November 28, 6:30-9:30
WHERE: Midtown studio location will be sent along with registration confirmation.
FEE: $35
We've all had that experience when auditioning of entering an audition room clear, present and willing to be in the moment. It's an absolutely amazing experience when it happens on its own, but when it doesn't happen naturally, what's an actor to do?

If you call yourself ARTIST, then constantly create ART. Don't worry about paychecks and meeting your daily 'rate.' Do any project you have time for. Be constantly evolving and improving. Some projects will pay and some will not, but if you call yourself something, whether it be a writer, actor, photographer, whatever, you should be doing that thing you say you do every single day.
