Anne Cowick - Nordic Tax Services
Having worked for Canada Revenue Agency for 22 years in various positions, my knowledge of Canadian Income Tax Law is vast. I early retired in 2005 and started a home based business preparing income tax returns. My practice has grown to the point where I needed to establish an office outside of the home at the beginning of 2011. I have consulted with various companies during filing season over the past few years and decided it was time to go on my own. If you are tired of having a different person doing your return every year, I can provide the continuity you are looking for. I am happy to arrange appointments when it is convenient for you. I speak to clients in plain English and answer questions with minimal jargon and maximum detail. I will do my best to keep my fees reasonable. I offer year round service. I will return phone calls and answer emails promptly. My business is 100% Canadian and is locally owned and operated. I love doing tax returns and am fast and accurate If you would like more information on the service that Nordic Tax Services offer please check out there website at www.nordictaxservices.com.

Real Growth Retreat for Women in Business (Jennifer Belanger one of the guest Speakers)
www.realgrowthretreat.com
This multi-day event takes place April 13 - 15, 2012 at the beautifully secluded Nakoda Lodge near Canmore, Alberta. This unique retreat is specifically designed to assist 40 - 60 women who are involved in entrepreneurial or leadership pursuits to grow themselves and their business.
The women who will benefit from attending this event are those who are ready to push through the barriers in themselves and their businesses - leaving their excuses behind. They would be looking for growth and opportunity to work with the right experts that fit their businesses and themselves while placing emphasis on value.
The women who attend will benefit by being able to participate in hands on training in the sessions that assist them in growing her business directly. Having the opportunity to interact with the speakers over the course of the weekend allows them to be part of the conversation rather than to be feeling like they are being spoken to from a stage. The kick back masterminding sessions will provide each attendee the space to develop new relationships with several others potentially leading into future joint ventures and business relationships.
The setting of this location will allows for both the speaker and the attendees to experience each other's authentic self allowing for more intimate and genuine conversations. This naturally leads to a higher propensity to form a stronger working relationship as opposed to what can be developed from a stage.

Starting a Book Club!!
Brenda Ffraser would like to start a book club and is inviting IA members or anyone else who is interested to contact me to set up a first meeting.
Generally, one person picks a book or an audio book and the group all read the book or listen to the audio book before the club meets each month. This is similar to Oprah's book club where people meet approximately once a month to talk about a book they just read. Meetings can alternate at a different person's residence each month or be at a restaurant or coffee place depending on how many people are interested. The best way to contact me for this is by email and I will set up a group email to send out information to anyone who is interested.
It really makes it much easier to bear the long winter months!

Soroptimist Ruby Award - Darlis Bachusky
Around the world, many women are working to improve the lives of women and girls. Some women work to improve conditions for women and girls through their personal or volunteer efforts; others do so through professional avenues. The Soroptimist Ruby Award, formerly the Soroptimist Making a Difference for Women Award, is designed to honor these women. A Ruby is also a gemstone associated with wisdom, importance, vitality, strength, power and love: All words embodying the award recipients.
This award honors women who are making extraordinary differences in the lives of other women. Examples would be a woman who helps to establish a domestic violence shelter, a woman who starts a mentoring program for at-risk girls, or a woman who lobbies her company to provide on-site child care. A Ruby Award recipient should be a woman who:
has worked to improve the lives of women and girls,
has had a significant impact on the lives of women and girls,
would inspire and encourage other women.
Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is very pleased to announce that our Ruby award is being granted this year to Darlis Bachusky. This wonderful inspiring lady is being honored for her work helping women escape domestic violence and many other volunteer activities. Join us, Soroptimist International of Central Alberta, on March 8, 2012 where we will present Darlis with her award. More details to follow in 2012 on our International Women's Day luncheon.
