CCSS Italics

What's New?

The first issue of Focus On... featured the latest information on California's efforts to implement the Common Core State Standards.  Because there are so many excellent new resources available, this edition of Focus On... will provide you with links to the latest updates.

Two coalitions, Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for Colleges and Careers (PARCC) and Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SMARTER), have received federal grants to develop tests aligned to the CCSS. Both groups are aiming to have tests ready by 2014-15.  California's State Board of Education will make a decision in May as to which assessment to adopt for the state.
