Board Member Kicks Off Bennett Spring Fishing/Viewing Platform Fundraising Campaign
 | | Steve & Marilynn Bradford, representing Pyramid Home Health Services, receive a trout print and a big "Thank You" from MCHF Executive Vice President Rick Thom. |
At a recent board meeting the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation decided to raise funds for a new viewing and fishing platform along the spring branch at Bennett Spring State Park. This was in response to a request from MDC director Bob Ziehmer to help make this project a reality. As soon as the board decided to take on the project, board member Steve Bradford kicked the campaign into gear by donating $5,000. Since then many other board members and other interested people have made donations toward the $45,000 project. MCHF plans to have this amount by November 10th. As of September 1st about half of the funding has been secured. To be part of this important project, please follow this link. |
Chicago Radio Station Helps Joplin Recovery
Radio station WBEZ in Chicago, a National Public Radio affiliate, recently offered its listeners a chance to help the City of Joplin to replace trees lost to the tragic tornado that struck last May. As part of its annual membership drive, WBEZ provided listeners an option to fund tree planting rather than to receive a beverage mug or tote bag. Over 400 listeners made that choice, raising more than $2,000 for the Joplin Tree Planting Fund within the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation. The money will be used by the Missouri Department of Conservation and local volunteers to plant more than 500 trees in Joplin. The project will be coordinated with several other tree planting efforts for the city. Read more. |

The Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization founded in 1997 to help meet financial needs placed on natural resource conservation and conservation-related outdoor recreation.
The Foundation is separate from the Missouri Department of Conservation but supports that agency's mission of protecting the state's fish, forestry, and wildlife resources for all Missourians. We are governed by a volunteer board comprised of conservation, community, and business leaders. By working with Missouri Department of Conservation staff, who partner with conservation groups statewide, we fund projects that immediately address conservation and outdoor recreation needs. Since it was created in 1997, the Foundation has provided more than $11 million for conservation projects. The Foundation receives funding from several sources, including Conservation Heritage License Plate donations; private donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations; and payments to the Stream Stewardship Trust Fund.
The Foundation offers volunteer opportunities and a variety of conservation giving opportunities. If you would like to speak to a Foundation staff person for more information, call 1-800-227-1488. |
