backSolSpring at Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts offers more than just massage. In the past few years SolSpring has evolved into a wellness center. Director Bonnie Gildea said, "SolSpring is the place to relax with a therapeutic massage by one of our 26 available practitioners. Or, you can come here for spa treatments (facials, pedicures or salt/sugar scrubs) and wellness services provided by an acupuncturist, chiropractor, colon therapist and naturopathic doctor."

SolSpring is open Monday through Saturday and can be reached at 269-373-1000.

Time to Get Muddy

mud
Did you know that mud therapy is good for treating skin diseases? The wet clay absorbs toxins in the skin, increases blood circulation, energizes skin tissue and improves complexion. In addition, mud therapy can reduce pain and other symptoms in illnesses such as gout, rheumatism, kidney problems, liver malfunction and fibromylagia.

Not only is a mud treatment therapeutic, it is luxurious and offers a great way to pamper yourself!

SolSpring has five practitioners trained in mud therapy. A one hour mud therapy treatment costs $80 and can be scheduled by calling 269-373-1000.
Bonnie
Meet the Director

Bonnie Gildea has been a familiar face at Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts for the past 17 years. She is now the director of SolSpring. Gildea had been the manager of the professional massage services of KCHA prior to purchasing that portion of the business from the former owner, Su Bibik. The School of Massage & Bodywork at KCHA is still owned by Bibik.
Gildea said, "I have believed in the benefits of massage for more than 20 years and am tickled to have the opportunity to share this wonderful place with the community."
When Gildea is not at SolSpring she can usually be found at a sporting event cheering for one of her four children.

massageMassage for Breast Cancer Survivors

The benefits of massage therapy after surgery for breast cancer survivors are numerous. Massage can help with lymphatic drainage by reducing swelling in the arm and shoulder area. Gentle massage along the scar can minimize adhesions and keep it free-moving. Massage relieves post-operative pain and edema, as well as promotes the removal of toxins as it assists in the flow of lymph, blood and oxygen. With multiple massage treatments, an increase in the range of movement is experienced, as well as restoration of feeling and sensation by stimulating nerve endings. Touch therapy is one of the best ways to heal the insult of cancer to the body, mind and spirit.
