A NEW RGHF FEATURE: "BEYOND HISTORY," OUR MEMBERS REPORT...
RGHF member and president of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) proved Rotary is a hands-on organisation when he abseiled from the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
President Ray Burman said:"My visits to Rotary districts have all involved doing an activity but I definitely reached new heights
with the Spinnaker Tower.
"I and District Governor Caroline Millman raised funds for PolioPlus, the campaign to eradicate polio for good. The abseil was a drop of 350 feet but it is worth to protect tiny children in the world from this crippling and sometimes fatal disease." RGHF member & RIBI president Ray Burman

RGHF member RID Paul Knyff will be in Bavaria, in less than two months, with several dozen of our members. Paul is RI board liaison for the RI Fellowships and will meet with us on our first night in Bavaria. Join us to discuss the future of fellowships and Rotary Global History Fellowship with RGHF members and RID Paul and Rita.
BREAKING NEWS!
RGHF is just in the early planning stages of converting 4,000 "hard wired" web pages, containing an estimate 30,000 articles, to a CMS, or Content Management System. Rotary International is leading the way, as they look to connect all Rotary clubs. We need to be part of that effort. This will be a long term and very costly venture, so your membership does really count. We're also going to ask our "free" subscribers to join us and help. That step will come later this year. What we have been using, for 10 years, is a Microsoft program that does not match the current state of the art in web design.
A huge benefit, when we get this moving, is that you, our 12,000 subscriber/members, can be authorized to post your club's histories directly online. You'll also be able to manage your membership details, registrations, and payments. I'm traveling to San Francisco, in three weeks to meet with a new member, a talented web designer to discuss the complex nature of this move. Rob Wood is one of a dozen RGHF members involved in this project, along with tech leaders Damien Harris, Don Higgins, Michael Sherron, and Irene Herz. Our lead person is RGHF executive VP Prakash Saraswat.
More to come on this important, vital, and necessary move.
Send me your stories of activities that you and other RGHF members are enjoying and we may include them in our features as "Beyond History" the activities of our members around the world.
YIRS, Jack Selway

Many of our members have treasure in their own backyards and do not know it. The treasury of RGHF is the amazing estimated 30,000 articles on all phases of Rotary's Global History. However, we have nearly 500 "missing histories," and many of our members live in districts and even clubs whose histories are missing. Visit www.missinghistory.org to see what's buried in your back yard.
