Dear ,
Welcome to the first edition of the new Rotary year 2011/12. In this edition of the Our Foundation newsletter we begin by listening again to the words (pages 2 - 3) of our new President Kalyan Banerjee. This year he asks us to reflect on our own personal life journey and to 'Reach within to embrace humanity.'
As we begin to re-energize for another new beginning, we continue to strive to find stories and articles that can motivate and inspire. We continue to highlight success in all our programs in order to guide and inspire others to reach out and reach within.
The more personal stories we can tell - be it successful projects or enthusiastic alumni making a difference - the more we can encourage our fellow Rotarians and indeed our other clubs to continue to support Rotary's own Foundation.
I was shocked to learn of the number of clubs who have given nothing (so far) in Rotary year 2010/11. You too may find this statistic surprising; but it is worth remembering. It shows we all have a job to do in encouraging fellow members of the world's premier service organization to get involved in our Foundation's work. See page 26.
The only way we can show others what we can do when we really, really want to is to continue to tell our stories of how The Rotary Foundation is working towards peace and goodwill every single minute of every day and how people in communities in every part of the world are thankful to our Foundation for caring.
Let's continue to care and to share our resources and our humanity - this year and every year. And please continue to share our story through the Our Foundation newsletter - in your club, your district and your zone.
