Dear

I invite you all to open the latest issue (#101) of Our Foundation Newsletter and simply clicking on the month, next to the 'new' icon, for the current issue.

As we prepare to celebrate Rotary Foundation month this November, I cannot help but think about the idea of 'hope'. As I write I am watching my television and watching in wonder as brave Chilean miners are hoisted out of their black wilderness and back into the real world of light and warmth. How many of these 33 ordinary men relied on 'hope' or 'Esperanza' over the past 2 months?

Something kept these men glued together - the 'hope' of survival and rescue.

How many other people around the world are similarly living in 'hope'.  There are countless men, women and children around the planet crying out in hope for a more peaceful world, for the chance to walk again, to be free from poverty or disease or squalor.

Rotarians through our own Foundation are able to provide hope to thousands upon thousands of the world's citizens each and every day.  We realize that in order to succeed  and to make our 'hope' become a reality we need to work as a team just like our miner friends and their rescuers.
There must be millions of people in the world relying on us to give them hope of a better world. That is why we must continue to support and develop our own Foundation. From providing disaster relief in Chile, Haiti and Pakistan to supporting long term sustainable projects in every corner of the world.
In this month's newsletter we continue to read about project success stories within the new future vision model and our existing programs. We also learn about the exciting offer from the Trustees  to celebrate World Polio Day - 2 for 1 points recognition for online contributions toward the fight to End Polio Now.

Ending Polio NOW - that is worth hoping for.

I invite you all to share the newsletter with your colleagues and friends in your clubs and districts.

In Rotary Service,

Calum
