Dear Conservancy Volunteers,

Thank you to everyone who volunteered with us in November!   With so many warm days in November, we've had a lot of wonderful events.  Thank you for all your help.

Just a reminder, that if you'd like to join us for tree pruning in the winter time, give us a call or send us an email!  Pruning trees helps keep trees healthy by removing dead, diseased, and broken limbs.  Preventative measures and well maintained trees are more likely to withstand severe weather.  It's also not too early to reserve your event for the spring!

A round of applause to those of you who have already volunteered this month - we've had a lot of fun events!  We hope to see you at another Conservancy Volunteer event soon!

All the Best,

This past summer, REI awarded the Conservancy a $10,000 grant for the Conservancy Volunteers program.  Dane Tullock from REI Boston joined CRC volunteers for a formal grant presentation. With support from REI, volunteers have joined the Conservancy to plant daffodil bulbs, paint railings, remove invasive species, weed garden beds, maintain park benches, rake leaves, and pick up

trash at multiple locations throughout the parklands.  This grant allows the CRC to greatly increase the number of open volunteer events that we can hold, which allows the Conservancy to have a greater impact on the parklands.

At the beginning of the month we had great volunteers from the Community Charter School

of Cambridge who painted railings and planted daffodils near the Museum of Science.  Over 40 high school students volunteered for the task.

Prospect Hill Academy Charter School planted daffodils along Memorial drive near the Anderson Bridge.

Dane Tullock, from REI Boston was present at MIT's leaf-raking event in Watertown. DCR even brought their leaf-sucker to remove leaves throughout the event.  We worked with the Cambridgeport Neighborhood Association and Riverside Boat Club to hold an open volunteer event at Magazine Beach.  It was quite successful based on the 30 bags of trash and over 65 bags of yard waste collected!  Volunteers were present from  Lesley University, Harvard University, and Boston Rotaract Club

Later in the month, Harvard University's Staff and students joined us from their

School of Public Health for a bulb planting event along Memorial Drive close to Eliot Bridge. And the final bulb planting event of the

year was a open volunteer event with members of the Boston Latin School's Wolfpack environmental group and community members.
