Flowering plants along the Charles

Dear Conservancy Volunteers:

Volunteers paint benches at Magazine Beach

We had wonderful volunteer groups work with us in August!  The parklands look much improved- thank you to everyone who has painted railings and benches, removed invasive species, cleared shoreline vistas, and planted beds.  For all of you who joined us in August- great work and thank you!  I hope you can all take advantage of the nice weather and enjoy the Parklands before winter!

Thank you to all who have participated in a recent volunteer event.  We have some great events lined up for September and October, so we'll see even more of you volunteering soon!

All the Best,

Who's Been Volunteering...
Group shot

Thank you to all the volunteers that worked with us in the month of August- we had very well-attended and productive events!

Bank of America volunteers swept the Anderson Bridge!

Intercontinental worked hard to remove knotweed from the pedestrian path in Herter Park West.  Magazine Beach looks terrific from the efforts of Cambridgeport Neighborhood Association, Riverside Boat Club, and Single Volunteers Boston who weeded beds, picked up trash, and cleaned up the sprinkler pool.

Bank of America interns jumped in and cleared the Anderson bridge abutment from fallen branches, and weeded the Anderson Bridge.

MIT Freshmen Urban Program Leaders performed necessary upkeep by painting railings between River St. and Western Ave. bridges.  Bredin Business Information worked to beautify Herter Memorial Garden and put over 35 plants in the ground.

Along Soldiers Field Road in Boston, Boston University School of Management, CELOP exchange students, and MIT graduate students removed invasive species and cleared shoreline vistas to create a beautiful sight line for the head of the Charles in October.

Great work to all!  The river is looking better all the time - but there is still more to do.

Want to lend a hand?  Looking to spend a day outdoors?

Look no further!  Join Conservancy Volunteers at an Open Volunteer Event!

October 5th 9:30am-3:30pm

The Conservancy is partnering with the Charles River

Cleanup Boat to clear brush growing in the sea walls along the river.  Some volunteers will be in the Cleanup Boat, and others will be on land to cut and bag these shrubs and trees that are breaking down the sea wall.  We'll break for lunch along the river and have a productive fun day!

Plan your corporate or

Does your corporation, business, community group, or school want to volunteer?  Volunteer days are an excellent way to build group camaraderie all while giving back to the Charles River Parklands.  Working with the Charles River Conservancy's Volunteer Coordinator we can design a volunteer day specifically for you!
