Greetings!
Happy Thanksgiving!
 | | David Campbell |
Well, 2011 has been a great year and we have so much in which to be thankful. I suppose my thanks dwell with the many people who participated in the ministry of Camp Marshall. This involvment, I suppose might be likened to a rich and beautiful farmers market. For those of us who have been fortunate enough to visit an open market understand how the market itself takes on a rich and uinque quality. How wonderful it is to be there and how the contributions of every vendor bring high energy. This, in conjunction with participation of a large number of people enjoying what is there comes close to what we experienced in 2011. It is difficult to describe in words. So as you move through this e-mail, take some time and follow the links to some of our video work. Here, you will perhaps rekindle a memory or better understand the miracle so many particpted in, in 2011.
With the facility, Julie Sisler, our site manager continued to facilitate major projects at camp which included; coordinating AmeriCorps Volunteers for a second year in a row, major renovations

to Canterbury Lodge (thanks to a large donation from St. Stephen's Billings), the completion of our drainfield project, the creation of a new handicap accessible trail (which can be seen 4:34 min-utesĀ into the Sr. High Sideshow) to our chapel (in loving memory of E. Thomas Moyer), the completion of a new room for our Media Center (Eagle Project by Kenny Liston).
Volunteers from around the state led the way by creating quilts for our Grace Campers (much thanks to our Women's Retreat), Day packs with necessary supplies for our Grace Campers provided by the Social Concerns Committee from Holy Spirit in Missoula, and, of course, volunteer staff (approximately 40 +) from congregations all over the State of Montana who worked either at Camp Marshall or at one of our many
Day Camps.
Financial support poured in from all over making it possible to guarantee that no camper or family would be turned away for financial reasons. Thanks to the many people who gave, making our financial story a successful one. At one point during our year finances were tight and the people of this diocese responded with kind and generous hearts.
Campers came ready to participate and learn about living in Christian Community. This year for the first time ever, campers were able, in some small way, to create a digital memories. Some of which include; You are my all in all, Come Thou Fount, Down to the River to Pray, and of course the Sr. High Slide Show. Make time to look over the web site for the many other contributions made by our campers. There are more projects to come, so stay tune!
Yes, Camp Marshall has been filled with a multitude blessings this year. Undergirding it all is prayer. A warm thank you to each of you who prayed for this ministry. When people ask us in years to come about 2011, perhaps we can share abounding grace with the same sense of awe as people had when they talked about Christ feeding the 5,000.

Give a gift that will last a lifetime! Now is the perfect time to register for camp! Imagine registering your child for camp, printing the confirmation ticket, once you have registered and putting an envelope in the tree to be found on Christmas morning. You can register now by visiting the Camps web site: episcopalcampmt.org Merry Christmas! P.S. If you have not already seen the "Come Thou Fount" Unplugged: Sunrise Session which shows the morning session used to open the Sr. High Video project it is worth the view. The session shows a "behind the scene" look at the work connected with this project. It also features a surprise guest about 3/4 into the video. A great way to share how camp is really a special place. |

Something to Celebrate!
In 2012 Camp Marshall will be the recipient of a grant request submitted to the Roanridge Trust Fund through the Episcopal Church.
The $20,000.00 grant used to develop our new Media Center ministry is specifically to develop a tool for training Clergy and rural Christian workers of the Episcopal Church.
While a majority of the funds will be used to purchase equipment necessary to develop two additional Apple Computer work centers, with recording equipment to back it up, we will, at the same time, be developing a resource guide that can be used by any Episcopal Church to help them succeed in their digital work.
Two specific areas we will be working on include; creating an outline of what does it look like to be a Christian in a digital world and second, what tools do you need to create and share your media.
In the course of the year we will be seeking feedback from our congregations. This is an exciting grant for us and it creates for the Episcopal Diocese of Montana an opportunity to make a difference.
Please pray for God's help in this work and if you feel called to participate please let me know.
Yours in Christ,
David Campbell, Camp/Christian Formation Director |

Rebuilding Starts Here |
We are on the lookout:
We are currently on the lookout for a volunteer architect to help us look at and consider our next steps with our dining hall and other buildings at Camp Marshall.
With the recent completion of the drain field, all of the infrastructure demands on Camp Marshall have been completed. Now our attention turns to the aging buildings. The dining hall is long overdue for a new roof, as well as, structural design requirements for safety reasons.
Other skilled volunteers may include, general contractors and experienced builders. Initially, we anticipate a thorough walk through of the camp for the purpose of developing a conversation with the diocese in preparation of very specific building projects. If you are reading this, and have these skills, please prayerfully consider serving the diocese as a volunteer. If you know someone who would be able to fill this need, please ask them to prayerfully consider participating in this new phase of growth for Camp Marshall. I am happy to visit with interested individuals on the phone.
The purpose of this work may be best described as stewardship of our talents to help all of God's Children better know him through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your time and consideration,

The goal for 2011 has been to raise $118,000 or 1,475 gifts of $80. As of October 31, we have raised $80,502.62
If we received 566 gifts of $80 we would reach our funding goals for 2011. We need new mattresses in all the cabins and staff house. It is our goal, also, to build the Camp Marshall Endowment each year by $10,000 thus insuring generations of children and families have the opportunity to enjoy Camp Marshall. Please consider giving to the Camp Marshall Endowment through your will as a loving expres-sion from you to see this ministry continue to flurish.
You can make a gift right now by going to our donations page
A note of thanks;
On July 23, I reported that we needed 180 donations of $80.00 to help us cover a $14,400 gap in our fundraising goals for both Grace Camp and our Camp Funds portion of Celebrate Camp Marshall Sunday Campaign in 2011. This was accomplished and WOW and thank you!
