Dear Readers The last month has seen several firsts for us here at Future Medicine Today. I taught my Traditional Chinese Medicine course in Calgary in a format that was open to all healthcare practitioners, and it was very successful in that format. I have such a passion for sharing the wisdom of Chinese Medicine and I am excited about the prospect of sharing it with a wider audience. I also taught my brand-new energy healing course, Accunect, here in Boulder last weekend. This course is a synthesis and distillation of all my studies in energy medicine from the last twenty years, and the feedback was tremendous. The framework of techniques creates a consciousness shift in the practitioner, allowing the work itself to be simple and easy to learn and use. The feedback from participants is that they have been able to use the work immediately in practice. People who are already practitioners have witnessed a major shift in the quality of their sessions. Thank you to the people who were at that course who helped to hold the energy of this "new baby". Please read below for more information about Accunect. We are working on the calendar for next year, so stay posted for upcoming dates in your area! Thank you to all of you who have been in touch sending encouraging e-mails and facebook messages. Thank you for your questions, they help me to learn too.
Yours with gratitude, Don Ka'imi Pilipovich |

Who, Me?
Enlightenment is the easiest thing in the universe - you are already one with everything, you just don't know it. ~ Ramesh Balsekar
A lot of studies about energy healing and the power of thought have focused on people with special abilities, people who have a proven record of healing or psychic ability. But is this really a limited phenomenon? Or can anybody do it? Can anybody project their thoughts in a way that influences the world?
This short answer is of course! The nature of reality is that everything in the universe is connected. Your thoughts create an energy field that interact with the underlying Zero Point Field and are instantly woven into the fabric of reality. Any theories of physics that say that your thoughts can be isolated from the universe have been disproven long ago. You are already connected to everything, and always have been. You just haven't had a way to prove it.
Robert Jahn of Princeton University decided to test whether or not psychokinesis, or affecting objects with the mind, was a universal ability, so he set up the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Project (PEAR). After setting up a mechanical system to generate random numbers, he ran thousands of tests on ordinary people. The subjects were asked to focus on the intention of producing more low numbers or high numbers. The results were astonishing - everyone had a statistically significant effect on the mechanical devices! Mind over matter is something that is a natural ability for everyone.
Can everyone access information in the Field? Again, the answer is the information in the Field is already interacting with your thought fields at a subconscious level. All we need is some practical methods to gather the appropriate information from our subconscious mind allowing us to have a mental focus or healing intention that is useful.
Once we have a useful thought, or healing intention, how can we transmit that thought to another person in an effective way?
We need a connection to them and to universal consciousness so we have thoughts in the purest form. We need a framework to organise our thoughts and we need a ritual or a powerful way to communicate those thoughts.

Ask Dr. Ka'imi

A Five Faces student asked about the flow of emotions in relation to personal experience. "I was sad to the point of crying. I don't want to over think this and get into the Earth element, but was wondering are there times when an emotion is just there without it being in the cycle of the elements or is it always a cycle member?"
The emotions should arise and be released naturally. If they don't that is a message that we need to look at why we are stuck in that emotion. If we are unable to release an emotion, then we are unable to process its message. If we stay angry, we haven't taken action to transform the situation. Sadness is a little tricky, as it may represent that a sad event has just happened, or it may represent a sense of loss. If we are able to accept and grieve a loss, we should be able to move on from that state. Although I talk about the flow of emotions through the generating cycle, in reality the emotions should balance each other - unless there is a belief limiting their expression. We have to hope for change, but lack of hope could represent a lack of courage to make change, a fear that change is impossible, a belief that life holds no joy, or an inability to think of solutions.
This multitude of possibilities is why I use muscle checking to guide me in the right direction in practice.
From Cheryl Hogg in Canada: "Can you tell me if the meridians associated with the five elements would run through the bodies of dogs, cats, and horses in the same way? I know horses have no gall bladder but other than that would it be the same as the meridians in people? I guess my next question is can you recommend any reference materials for Chinese medicine for animals?"
The meridians follow similar pathways, and there is a mapping of the gall bladder meridian in horses. The gall bladder meridian regulates many functions besides that of the physical gall bladder, which for me makes it less surprising that the meridian exists in horses. Animal acupuncture charts are available for a number of different species, but they are less well developed than for people. I found several books on veterinary acupuncture theory at www.redwingbooks.com but I am not familiar with any of them, so I can't make a specific recommendation.
From Michelle Boule in New York: "I feel like the word 'consciousness' gets tossed around so much and beyond learning the different 'consciousness' states held within various parts of the body, I still feel like I could use more clarity around what exactly 'consciousness' is."
The definition that I use that consciousness represents the ability to be aware of and to respond to the environment. This simple definition includes the ability of a person to engage with their world on a conscious level, but also addresses the ability of a cell to respond to it's local environment. One of the functions of Qi in Chinese medicine is to carry the knowledge of function to the areas of the body, so the energy field in a body area represents the functional intelligence of how to respond, or the consciousness of the body area. In Sanskrit the word for consciousness is the same as the word for life force, which parallels the usage in Chinese medicine. To summarize, to be able to respond is consciousness. The quality or appropriateness of that response then corresponds to how conscious someone is, or how conscious a body part it. |
