From Dr. Don Ka'imi Pilipovich

Dear Readers

I open my August newsletter with deep gratitude for all the wonderful messages of encouragement  and support I have received since I announced my resignation last month. Your response has been truly heart warming and indeed a confirmation that my decision to follow my heart is the correct one. I am so excited to be moving forward with the wind at my back.

Last weekend I was skyped in to the New Zealand BTA conference as the key note speaker. Thanks to the NZBA for inviting me and making me feel so welcome. Very cool to use technology in this way. It really felt like I was there, and opens up so many possibilities for connecting with people. In my talk  'Who Are You Being' I shared my insights and experience from my 'Being in Practice' e-courses, on stepping into your true authentic self and being the best healthcare professional you can be. This talk was recorded, and we hope to have it available to you in an upcoming newsletter.

My team and I are working hard behind the scenes, getting everything in place to be able to present our next exciting steps to you. Keep an eye out in upcoming newsletters for these announcements.

Just a reminder that this newsletter is available to anyone who is interested in personal development, energy medicine and wellness in general. Please feel free to share this newsletter with clients, friends and family. We've had to refine our mailing list under my new company, so people who previously received this newsletter may no longer receive it, please do pass this on to them to subscribe again.

And as always, if you have any questions, comments or ideas you would like to have discussed in a forthcoming newsletter, please feel free to get in touch.

Yours with gratitude

Don Ka'imi Pilipovich

Rules of  Alchemy

We usually think of alchemy as referring to the goal of somehow transmuting common metals such as lead into more valuable rare metals such gold or silver. Alchemy also refers to the process of transmuting one's nature into a higher form. This is a primary theme of Taoist philosophy and this ancient Chinese alchemical thought is closely connected to the medical theories behind acupuncture and herbology. The key point is to understand how body, mind, and spirit are connected. The clearer our understanding is of these connections, the clearer our intention is when working with ourselves or others.

Our physical bodies respond to the flow of energy in the body, and the energy flow responds to our thoughts or our minds. This is reflected in the popular saying, "Where attention goes, energy flows." The implication is clear: physiological imbalance and disease come from nervous system imbalances. And nervous system imbalances come from distortions in the mind. Or in other words, mind determines matter.

This perspective is eloquently summarized in this Taoist saying:

The Blood follows the Qi

The Qi follows the Mind

The Mind follows the Spirit

The Spirit follows the Tao

- Taoist saying

The first two lines of this saying echo my statement above that physiology is influenced by energy flow, which is in turn influenced by the mind. Thus, effective health care needs to include changing or transmuting the mind in order to achieve lasting change in the body.

But the saying goes much further, stating that our Mind follows our Spirit, or personality and perception; and that the Spirit should follow or be connected to the Tao, or Universal consciousness.  This is in accordance with everything we know about physics and physiology. Physics theory states that everything in the universe is actually connected at the quantum level, so that means our mind is connected to everything. Neurological research proves that the mind is not contained, or confined, to the brain. Thinking and memory involve interactions between our brain and the surrounding energy fields. It is impossible to isolate our mind from being affected by and simultaneous affecting the world around us.

What does this mean in practice? One conclusion is that when we are practicing energy medicine, our mind directly influences the mind of our client, and hence their physiology. This is why the clarity of our intention is so important in getting better results. Using muscle checking to ask questions is one way to gain more clarity on what needs to be shifted. But our perceptions of what is possible also shape our subconscious intentions and also affect our clarity. This was the subject of my lecture to the NZBA.

This also points to our need to work on our own belief systems and perceptions. The more we see ourselves as connected, the more we see the possibility for transformation of ourselves and others. The more connected our Spirit is to the Tao or God, the more our perception shifts to embrace infinite potential. The Tao represents the total energy and consciousness of the universe, which is unfathomable. God represents all the infinite power and presence. And physics now postulates that the Zero Point Field is a boundless source of energy that represents the sum total of consciousness in the universe. So both ancient and modern traditions agree that when our perception shifts to embrace more connectedness in our world view, our perception is more in aligned with the true nature of the universe. And that nature of the universe is that all the energy and the knowledge to accomplish transmutation is surrounding all of us and within all of us.

From Paul Woollhams: "Just out of curiosity, as in other traditional systems is air and ether the same as wood and metal or is it the other way around, i.e. ether and air? Or do I have wrong idea?"

You can find both correlations (wood = air and wood = ether) from different sources, but I think it is actually a mistake to equate them as they really are different systems. In Greek, Indian, and Tibetan traditions there are four building blocks of matter plus the generating force of creation. The four material elements are Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. The generating force is Ether. Ether is also referred to as Space or Void or Akasha. This is the creative information/energy field that surrounds everything and what physics refers to as the Zero Point Field. The Zero Point Field is the vibration or oscillation of particles in supposed empty space at the coldest possible temperature (absolute zero). This is the source of boundless potential, and is the means by which all consciousness is connected.

Chinese Five Element theory is arguably a mis-translation. It should be called Five Steps or Five Phases theory, and it describes five states of being and five forces of transformation. This recognizes that cyclical change is an essential aspect of nature. The generative or creative force is the dynamic tension between feminine and masculine or yin and yang. Since the whole universe is generated by the constant oscillation between yin and yang, this is another representation of Universal Consciousness or Zero Point Field.

Both systems describe the world well, but they describe it in different ways. They both are rich traditions and both have strengths and weaknesses in describing patterns of disease. There is some overlap between the theories, which makes comparisons tempting. But there are enough differences to make it impractical to try to understand one by attempting to translate it into the other.

From a reader in New Zealand. "I've had tinnitus for over a year due to a neck injury and during that time have come across many people with it for different reasons, including lots of musicians. Many people think it is incurable, but I understand from a TCM perspective it's easy. Can you give a little insight?"

In western medicine, tinnitus is considered incurable. In Chinese medicine it is considered hard. That said I've had a fair amount of luck with tinnitus over the years. In many cases it goes away, in others it is lessened. Sometimes there are structural issues, but often there is either a Kidney or Liver meridian imbalance. By looking at the belief systems related to these organs, deeper change is possible. As an example, since the Kidneys rule the hearing and are affected by fear and guilt, some of my best success stories with tinnitus involve clearing a deeply held belief or fear of not being connected to Universal/Divine energy.

"I can't get my head around how extraordinarily special '5 Faces' is. Talk about tying everything together and diving to new depths of life! ..... I'm loving it the most."  Cameron Walker CBP, New Zealand

".... Ka'imi said something like "You are a face of God", and I suddenly got it---like REALLY got it, not intellectually, but in the core-of-me got it. I AM a face of God, we all are faces of God; we are all aspects of creation, each unique, each divine, each an aspect of the whole. This realization carries with it the knowledge that I am not separate--never have been, never will be. The idea of separateness is an illusion. This is a fundamental shift for me, and I am filled with gratitude to you Ka'imi and all you wonderful people who have been in this course with me. Thank you."  - Deb Paulson LMT/CBP, USA

"I listened to the first lesson and it is so helpful.....solidify my understanding of the elements and emotions related to them. I look forward to putting this information to good use with my clients. Thanks Kaimi!!!!"  Carolyn Osborn CBP

"Wow! LOVED the wood lecture Ka'imi, it was all very inspiring, I feel 'turned toward the sun' and happily growing!" Tania Marsden CBP, New Zealand
