Ka'imi Leaves the IBA

Dear Readers

Welcome to my July newsletter. It contains news of both sadness and excitement for me, and while many of you may feel similar emotions, I hope that you can agree that all things happen in divine order.

Many of you may have heard the rumors circulating about me leaving the IBA after 11 years of service in many capacities. After careful consideration I have come to the decision that my path lies in a different direction and therefore I am resigning as a Senior BodyTalk instructor. I have to follow my heart and inner guidance and it is time for me to move on to other things that I am being led towards. I am working on my first book and want to focus more time on development of that and other new projects.

I am grateful for, and have enjoyed enormously the experience that BodyTalk, John Veltheim, my fellow instructors and students have given me. Thank you for the experiences that I have learned from you all. I want to acknowledge the commitment that all of my students who have trained with me have shown to their own growth and development, the growth of their clients and others, and to living and supporting a new paradigm. I also want to honor you all for the teachings you have contributed to me in every class I have taught. I have gained so much and enjoyed it immensely. I am saddened to be leaving something that has been so important to me for such a long time.

I will continue with my passion for teaching, and sharing valuable tools of self growth and development, as this is my key role in the world.

My Chinese Medicine courses scheduled in Canada (Sept) and USA (Nov) may be the last time this course is taught in the current format, with some minor administrative changes, and as this is no longer an IBA course, IBA credits will no longer be available. I am confident that those who have the opportunity to take this course with me will gain many valuable insights into your clients and clinical practice and I look forward to sharing my passion for Chinese Medicine with you. Everything happens just the way it is supposed to and I am excited by the idea of new challenges. Best wishes to all of you. Thank you for being part of my journey to date. I hope you will join with me as I step into my next phase.

I've always observed that the reciprocals balance both posture and the meridians from my acupuncture training. In Six Channel meridian theory, there are actually six channels, not twelve. Each of the six has a lower body and upper body meridian. For example, the Lung meridian in the arm and the Spleen meridian in the leg are both Taiyin or Greater Yin. There is a diagonal relationship between these two meridians, and one principle of acupuncture point selection is that if you are going to needle Lung meridian in the right wrist, you should consider needling Spleen meridian at the left ankle. So this diagonal relationship has been recognized in meridian theory for many centuries.

Sam McKinley asks "Are subtle or intuitive senses more reliable than the physical senses?"

I don't think so. One of the interesting things about physical vision is that only about the 15% of the actual visual image formed in the brain actually comes from the eyes. The rest comes from your memory of how the world looks. This is why our beliefs about the world can have such a powerful effect on our perception. With intuitive vision, the percentage of information coming from actual signals from the eyes is even less, so there is potentially more room for interpretation. The bottom line? I am very grateful for all the information that comes in through my intuitive senses, but I always remember to have humility when presenting it to a client, because I might be wrong.
