NEW PrintSmith Vision Previewed |

While I was at Graph Expo, I had the opportunity to preview the new version of PrintSmith - PrintSmith Vision. Although my opportunity was very limited, I can tell you that it will now be a browser based program which means each workstation will act as a master, no more pricing updates only on the master! It appeared and worked just like PrintSmith does now, plus no need for any dongles.
Being a browser based program, it will work on both PC and Mac and on any operating system.
Sorry, I have no idea on release dates however, it will be in beta testing shortly, so once the bugs are fixed, it should be released.

How to put your COST into the Copier Definitions |
For those who have tried to put costing into the copier definitions, it can be tedious and may not be correct.The PrintSmith manual says to fill in all the costing data/boxes in the image below.
My technique to calculate a true and accurate click cost is to add up all your invoices for service/maintenance/lease payments/labor/toner/etc (EXCEPT paper) and divide by the number of clicks used or billed for. I would do this for a 6 month date range inorder to get the best results. I would then zero out all the fields except copies/minute (as you need this for tracker and scheduler) and put the calculated click cost in the click cost box. This would then give you the ACTUAL machine cost per copy. I would then revisit this copier ever quarter so that your number are up to date. This is a much more realistic way to calculate per copy costs. Remember - this is your cost, not your selling price!

The above example of calculating copier click costs and many other ideas I use in my consulting practice, saves PrintSmith users time and frustration in using PrintSmith. | Why Use Bar Code Scanners? |

This saves valuable time looking for jobs while your clients are on the phone.. Just go to your Pending Document window and see where each job is!
