Dear Friends and PrintSmith Users,
Well it happened again!
Over my years in setting up PrintSmith and in teaching advanced features of PrintSmith, I have ran into a few incidents that have not only paid for my visit, but have cost the owner a lot of money. This happened again and I will list these errors below.
When you realize the cost of my visit, the amount of knowledge I bring to you in both PrintSmith AND printing, it only makes senses to have me visit you on a regular basis. Continue reading and you will see why!
I always look forward to your comments.
The latest version of PrintSmith as of today is 8.1.13
Sincerely,
David Ashkenaz

#1 - Wrong Paper Costs in PrintSmith
|
I recently did an advanced PrintSmith session with an owner and he wanted to delete all of his stocks and enter in Xpedx price list electronically. After we did this and did some testing, he realized that one of his stocks was INCORRECTLY entered into PrintSmith at the cost of $75.00 per 1,000 sheets. The CORRECT cost was $75.00 per 100 sheets. Since this order was for 10.000 (every 4 months), one can easily see he lost over $6,800.00 per order. More than my cost to visit him for sure!!
Obviously the client knew he was getting a good deal on the printing, but never told the owner of the print shop! Now he wished he had me in earlier to fix this! |
| #2 - Wrong Price in Copier Matrix |
A) Upon doing a "routine" check of this owners copier matrix, I noticed that for the 2nd side he was charging LESS than the first side. What was happening, is his clients were getting charged $145.00 for 1000 copies on 1 side, but for the same quantity of 1000, they were being charged $125.00!
B) This client was outsourcing his color copiers, and in his matrix he had it set for $0.39 per copy. Seems logical, however, his vendor was charging him $0.44 per copy!
My visit paid for itself in no time at all! Both owners couldn't thank me enough!
Now they wished they had me in earlier to fix this! |
| #3 - Wrong Price in Charges |
When I was setting up COSTING within PrintSmith (it finally works great now!) I noticed (with the owners present) that some of the charges were "costing" more than they were selling it for. A typical example would be cutting. I noticed that the cost to cut per lift, was $0.59, when taken into consideration, labor, over head, cost of cutter, blade sharpening, etc, etc. However, they were charging only $0.50 per lift. They were losing $0.09 per lift!
One doesn't have to calculate how long it would have paid for my visit to change the price to the customer! Now he wished he had me in earlier to fix this! |
| Disclaimer |
Now these are 3 problems that I found and fixed in PrintSmith. There are many others that I have found as well.
During your normal BUSY days, with all that you have to do, it is very hard if not impossible to stay on top of PrintSmith to make sure the correct prices are coming out of it. Now I can not guarantee that I will find anything wrong with your PrintSmith, but I can guarantee that I will look and the chances are very high that I will find something wrong.
When your press breaks, you call repair, when PrintSmith breaks you call me, however, you may not know it's broken until I am there!
In 13+ years, not one of my clients said I was too expensive, they all said it was money well worth spending, not only for my on site services, but for my continued support (at no additional charge) after my visit.
Now don't you wished you had me in earlier to fix your problems??

| Why Use Bar Code Scanners? | |
Bar Code scanners are a vital part of PrintSmith! While they are great for the new modular TRACKER, they are primarily used to scan job tickets and see where each and every job is within you shop. This saves valuable time looking for jobs while your clients are on the phone.. Just go to your Pending Document window and see where each job is!
I sell the wireless scanners ($650.00 each) or the wired ones ($200.00 each). Both come programmed for PrintSmith and includes free delivery.
No PrintSmith system should be without them!
Buy them here!
Wireless Bar Code Scanners are $650.00 each (delivered) Wired Bar Code Scanners are $200.00 each (delivered)
