Costing is now a very valuable tool within PrintSmith. If set up and used properly, it tells the estimator what their actual costs are and how much, if any, they can discount or up charge to be competitive. Costing takes into count, the actual cost of the paper and the press time needed for printing jobs. For copier/digital work, it takes into count the paper and the clicks or machine costs to produce the job. It also adds the labor needed at the appropriate rates.
For charges, it takes into count the cost of the labor and the time associated with each function. So if you can fold 10,000 pieces per hour and your hourly rate is $15.00, the costing function would be set up to tell you it will cost you $30.00 to fold 20,000. This gives the estimator better information to use when one needs to be competitive.
As I go around the country and set up Costing for users, many times, we find that the cost to do an operation is actually higher than what is being charged!
Many times, the cost of my visit, is paid back in a few months due to the ability to change prices and make money in some areas of PrintSmith.
Costing is used independently or with the Tracker modular, your choice! |
