New Paper Prices from your paper vendors!
Many paper vendors have sent you their new paper prices for 2010. Now would be a good time to review your paper prices as well as all of your other prices that you charge.
You will either receive a disk or download them from the papers website. A few things to remember before importing them into PrintSmith:
1) Make sure they are in the correct format to import properly.
2) Make sure they are the correct prices that you are paying -- if they aren't, you can probably import the list into Excel and change the prices to reflect your actual cost, you can also do it within PrintSmith, however, that may be very time consuming.
3) Before you do the import, make sure you back up PrintSmith -- this way if there is an error, you can revert to your back up.
If you are just updating your prices, then the present stocks will remain and only the new prices will go into PrintSmith. If you never did imported papers into PrintSmith before, then you would have to do a full import as PrintSmith needs the vendor name and stock numbers for an update to work.
If you are going to do a fresh update (deleting all your stocks and importing a new stock database) please be careful and a few things will happen:
1) Copying a job from history will give you an error message that the paper is no longer in PrintSmith.
2) Your prices from history will probably change.
There are many benefits to having a fresh stock database, however there are some concerns that you would need to be aware of.
CAUTION: If you are uncertain on the above, please call me or better yet, please have me out to do this for you! Please refer to the PrintSmith manual for full directions. |
