Do you backup on a daily basis?
Although rare, I have seen PrintSmith users loose all of their data. Why did this happen? They weren't backing up PrintSmith and one day, their hard drives died.
Make sure you back up PrintSmith on a DAILY basis. With what ever backup procedure you use (tape drive/USB sticks/etc.) make sure you back up and store multiple back ups. I recommend atleast 2-3 weeks of backups (if not more). This way if one backup is corrupted, you have additional backups to rely on.
Also, from time to time, it is a good idea to make sure the backups work! Take your backup copy of PrintSmith and put it into a DIFFERENT computer than your master. Make sure you move the dongle and also make sure that the drivers for the dongle are installed. Now launch PrintSmith and make sure your data is all there.
By using another computer, you won't corrupt your master if something is wrong with the backup. If you have any questions at all, please call me before attempting this.
Be safe, make backups and make sure they work. You have too much data in PrintSmith to lose. It is also a good idea to take the backups off site. |
