Certified PROFIBUS training
The next opportunity to get certified as a PROFIBUS Installer and then trained up on Commissioning and Maintenance will be at MMU on Feb 20 and 21. Presently, there are several places available but these are often snapped up very quickly.
A month later and already nearly sold out, so once again don't delay - there will be a full Training Week starting on the 19th March. Designed to help candidates reach their fullest potential in just a week, the week covers the Certified PROFIBUS Installer course - which is pre-requisite, the Commissioning & Maintenance module, the newly-introduced System Design module and finally the Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course.

New format Refresher course for Certified PROFIBUS Engineers
Did you qualify as a Certified PROFIBUS Engineer more than 3 years ago? Beginning to feel a little "rusty"? Previously-certified PROFIBUS Engineers can now take advantage of a new way to keep up to date with current developments, cover new content such as the system design course and optionally obtain a new-style certificate. Join in the latter part of one of our Training Weeks and get completely updated. Arrive on Wednesday, finish the training end of Thursday or stay on for the tests on Friday to see how well you scored and get an updated certificate.

MMU is launching a new MSc programme in September 2012 to reflect the rapid uptake of field-level networking and Ethernet-based technologies in factories and process plant. The new Master programme will reflect the evolution from an enterprise infrastructure comprising of islands of instruments and sub-systems to an infrastructure of networked smart devices and systems.
The course offers successful students accreditation as Certified PROFIBUS Engineer and Certified PROFINET Engineer in addition to their MSc Industrial Communication and Automation.

Welcome to the third issue of PROFINEWS UK in 2012, bringing you a quick summary of news and events in and around the UK.
We've added even more events to our calendar for this year, lending our support to a number of popular trade shows and conferences such as Automation & Control for Energy, Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Aberdeen, Engineering Design at Coventry, Sensors & Systems for Control & Instrumentation at Silverstone and WWEM at Telford.

Practical aspects of PROFIBUS in Process Seminar dates and venue announced:
- April 17th at Endress+Hauser, Manchester - November 8th at WWEM, Telford
Presented in Manchester in April and then in November in conjunction with the popular WWEM show at Telford, this highly practical seminar addresses the key issues arising from the use of digital fieldbus communications technologies in process and hybrid industries. With 50% of the seminar time dedicated to live demonstrations and most of the remainder taken up with practical advice based on actual experience, the programme will be of great value to Instrument Technicians/Engineers,C&I Engineers and System Engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern process plant. Covering the use of PROFIBUS PA in key application areas such as Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Utilities, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas today, it focuses on the practical aspects of using PROFIBUS in process industry applications from system design and hazardous area considerations through to maintenance and fault-finding.
Attendance is free of charge to pre-registered delegates from the User community, i.e. companies that own, operate, design, build or maintain process plant. Introduction to PROFIBUS Diagnostics
Coventry, 21st February
Member company Hitex UK is launching a series of free-to-attend seminars which will cover the basic concepts and techniques for diagnosis and fault-finding on PROFIBUS networks. The session will feature live demonstrations of Softing diagnostic and analysis tools running on a live PROFIBUS network.
The first of these sessions is running on 21st February 2012 in Coventry with further dates and locations to be announced later in the year. The day will be an ideal opportunity for delegates to start to learn more about PROFIBUS generally and to understand how it brings benefits onto the factory floor. Topics such as condition-based maintenance strategies and rapid troubleshooting will illustrate the efficacy of adopting such an approach. The session also features a hands-on live demonstration enabling delegates to thoroughly understand whether PROFIBUS is the right approach for them, and how to get started.
The target audience is installers and maintenance technicians involved in the commissioning and maintenance of PROFIBUS DP networks.
