There are just a few places remaining at MMU's Certified PROFIBUS Training Week commencing 23rd January, which is the next opportunity to "get certified".

Designed to help candidates reach their fullest potential in just a week, the week covers the  Certified PROFIBUS Installer course - which is pre-requisite, the Commissioning & Maintenance module, the newly-introduced  System Design module (see adjacent feature article) and finally the Certified PROFIBUS Engineer  Course.

To register please call Ann on +44 207 193 8018 to check availability for this or future opportunities.

PS - These courses can also be delivered at your premises for groups of 6 or more. Ask for details.

New format Refresher course for Certified PROFIBUS Engineers

Did you qualify as a Certified PROFIBUS Engineer more than 3 years ago? Beginning to feel a little "rusty"? Previously-certified PROFIBUS Engineers can now take advantage of a new way to keep up to date with current developments, cover new content such as the system design course and optionally obtain a new-style certificate. Join in the latter part of one of our Training Weeks and get completely updated.  Arrive on Wednesday, finish the training end of Thursday or stay on for the tests on Friday to see how well you scored and get an updated certificate.

Greetings!

Welcome to the second issue of PROFINEWS UK in 2012, bringing you a quick summary of news and events in and around the UK.

We've added some new events to our calendar for this year, with active participation in a number of popular trade shows and conferences such as Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Aberdeen, Engineering Design at Coventry, Sensors & Systems for Control & Instrumentation at Silverstone and WWEM at Telford.

We will also be presenting more in our series of free-to-attend "Practical Aspects" seminars up and down the country. The first focused on Process Automation and is scheduled for April 17th at Endress+Hauser, Manchester. Watch this space for more of these to be announced shortly.

Sincerely

Bob Squirrell,

PROFIBUS Group Chairman

Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Systems Aberdeen

The PROFIBUS Group is pleased to lend its support to Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Systems Aberdeen, on this its 10th year. The event will return to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 5th and 6th September 2012.

Located in the heart of the Offshore industry in Aberdeen, the exhibition brings together the many companies who supply products and services specific to the offshore industry in addition to others representing processing, power generation, paper, distilling, water and waste, and marine engineering in north east Scotland.

Sensors + Systems for Control & Instrumentation

The PROFIBUS Group will be supporting the newly-launched Sensors + Systems for Control & Instrumentation show at Silverstone, October 24th & 25th. This focused event reinforces how important Instrumentation is for the design and implementation of measuring, monitoring and actuation systems and in data acquisition and processing, playing nowadays a major in many technological areas, including certification, control and information.

The exhibition will again feature free workshops and presentations from leading organisations such as PROFIBUS.

The Engineering Design Show

The PROFIBUS Group has agreed to act as an industry Supporter of the Engineering Design Show. The Show, which will take place on October 10th and 11th 2012 at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena, offers us a superb opportunity to promote understanding of the world's leading vendor independent open fieldbus standard for use in manufacturing and process automation. By supporting the Engineering Design Show, we hope to meet engineers who are at the design stage. They need to be made aware of the advantages of PROFIBUS and know how to design it into their plants and equipment. We want to help them do that.

Practical aspects of PROFIBUS in Process Seminar dates and venue announced:
- April 17th at Endress+Hauser, Manchester
- November 8th at WWEM, Telford

Presented in Manchester in April and then in November in conjunction with the popular WWEM show at Telford, this highly practical seminar addresses the key issues arising from the use of digital fieldbus communications technologies in process and hybrid industries.

With 50% of the seminar time dedicated to live demonstrations and most of the remainder taken up with practical advice based on actual experience, the programme will be of great value to Instrument Technicians/Engineers,C&I Engineers and System Engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern process plant. Covering the use of PROFIBUS PA in key application areas such as Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Utilities, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas today, it focuses on the practical aspects of using PROFIBUS in process industry applications from system design and hazardous area considerations through to maintenance and fault-finding.

Attendance is free of charge to pre-registered delegates from the User community, i.e. companies that own, operate, design, build or maintain process plant. This event will provide delegates with an excellent networking opportunity and the ability to speak to our experts whom, we promise, will not force you to buy anything.
