Greetings!

Happy New Year! Welcome to the first 2012 issue of PROFINEWS UK, bringing you a quick summary of news and events in and around the UK.

2011 was certainly a tough year for many of us with the economy and the Euro crisis having a knock-on effect on the UK's manufacturing sector. However, I'm cautiously optimistic for 2012, having noted a recent increase in enquiries about our technology, products, membership and training.

Interestingly, there seems to be an increased interest among the younger generation choosing to study Engineering at university - maybe the new incentives are having an effect? I'd be interested in feedback and opinions on this subject.

Sincerely

 Bob Squirrell,

PROFIBUS Group Chairman

See us at the Engineering Design Show

The PROFIBUS Group will be supporting the UK's new Engineering Design Show which will take place on October 10th and 11th 2012 at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

The show will focus on the needs of design engineers in the mechanical and electronic fields and will include a comprehensive conference and workshop programme in which The PROFIBUS Group will be presenting on design-related issues in automation and control.

Running throughout the two days of the show, the conference will focus on a broad range of themes and topics focused on the requirements and realities of design engineering within the UK. With subjects ranging from materials development through to regulation, the conference will bring together high profile speakers from across industry, government and academia.

In addition, both of the two workshop theatres will offer visitors practical and hands-on content in the form of case study presentations by leading technology experts. This area will be free for visitors to attend and each workshop session will be promoted individually with a full synopsis of what visitors can expect to learn.

Members of The PROFIBUS Group will be entitled to 15% discount from the price of exhibition stands and conference delegate places.
