Why take the PROFIBUS Engineer Refresher Course?

Certificates are dated and soon the actual test dates will be added to the ProfiTech section of the PROFIBUS website so that it will be easier for interested parties to find out how long ago individuals qualified. Indeed, many large organisations like to know that their contractors' engineers are fully up to date and therefore look for evidence of appropriate training such as a recent certificate, ideally obtained within the last 3 - 5 years.

Certified PROFIBUS Engineers can be brought up to date on new developments and have their knowledge and skills independently assessed should they have not had sufficient chance to use them, for example, due to long time away from PROFIBUS work.

MMU will be presenting a PROFIBUS Engineer Refresher and Recertification Course taking place in the week of 15th November. The course cover latest developments in PROFIBUS, Systems/Network design and new functions of instruments such as the PROFItrace. The next opportunity will not be until the middle of 2011.

All Things PROFINET All Things PROFINET

INTRODUCING THE 'ALL THINGS PROFINET' WEB SITE: Our USA colleagues have been very busy lately. I'm indebted to Carl Henning of the PTO for reminding me about their new web site dedicated to PROFINET which was launched in August.

Called 'All Things PROFINET' the site is designed specifically as a single entry point for prospective users and developers of PROFINET products and systems. It already answers most of the 'how to' questions faced by PROFINET newbies and is structured so that different types of users can find a quick route to the information they need to understand what PROFINET can do, and how the benefits can be brought to life in real applications. Signposts for End Users, OEMs and Device Developers provide a logical route into and through the site, with 'job title' choices acting as the primary guide mechanism.

The site is a user-friendly resource that focuses on benefits and delivers easy access to the solutions offered by PROFINET across automation as a whole. Links to deeper technical topics are provided. A control engineer can step through a complete PROFINET project from start to finish. Even IT managers have not been forgotten as they are often a key decision-player in choosing Industrial Ethernet solutions!
