Free Seminars very well received

Our recent free seminars in Manchester attracted over 50 delegates.

The first focused on the use of PROFIBUS and PROFINET in Factory Automation and was hosted by Siemens A&D with speakers from MMU, VTC. It addressed a spread of topics from practical steps towards a successful PROFIBUS Project through to configuring a PROFINET installation to include integration of PROFIBUS and PROFisafe. The event was very much "hands on" and included demonstrations of configuration and fault-finding using the latest tools.

"Very informative event ... with excellent demonstrations and presentations." "Good positioning of Profibus, Profinet, Profienergy and Profisafe." "Very useful few hours that helped my understanding. Thank you" were just a few of the comments made by the audience.

The second seminar was Process-industry focused. Hosted by Endress+Hauser with speakers from ABB, MWH, Siemens and VTC, some 50% of the seminar time was dedicated to live demonstrations and most of the remainder taken up with practical advice based on actual experience. The seminar covered component selection, network design and project management with live demonstrations of fault finding and maintenance, device integration and commissioning and host Integration to CMMC.

Comments from the audience included: "A lot of good information presented, excellent venue and facilities." "Very nice venue, good demonstrations, good balance of practical demonstrations plus presentations." "Well organised, good venue. Level of presentations just about right."

Several delegates attended both days. "Thanks again for an excellent 2 days in Manchester. I found the "networking" opportunities to be at least as valuable as the presentations and demos - and they were pretty useful!" commented one.

Upcoming training opportunities

The next opportunity to get fully PROFIBUS trained and Certified will be at MMU's Certified PROFIBUS Training week from 8 - 12th November

Following a new format designed to help candidates reach their fullest potential in just a week, the schedule covers the Certified PROFIBUS Installer course - which is pre-requisite, the Commissioning & Maintenance module and finally the Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course.

Each course can be taken individually or as part of the full set, depending on the candidates' existing qualifications and ability.

To register for any of these events, please download the Registration Form and return to admin@uk.profibus.com or call Ann on +44 207 193 8018 to check availability.

New Courses at MMU

Industrial Wireless Networks - Configuration and Deployment - 17 Nov 2010

Wireless networks are increasingly being used in the automation industry with applications as diverse as controlling AGVs, storage shuttles and production cranes. As bandwidth demands increase with PLC upgrades PROFINET wireless is also being used to overcome PROFIBUS limitations such as slip-rings.

Presented in conjunction with Daconi Wireless, this one day course shows how a PROFINET or PROFISAFE network can be securely and reliably deployed over an Industrial Wireless LAN network. This hands-on course covers configuration of Industrial Wireless LAN equipment and explains how to avoid the common pitfalls to successfully deploy an industrial wireless network. CoDeSys V3
training course
- 27 to 29th October

CoDeSys Version 3, released in 2006, sets new standards in object-oriented programming for automation tasks. The following are some of the highlights compared to the widely-applied Version 2.3:

Programming of complete PLC networks including multiple PLCs or controllers within one single project
Modularisation of the development system in components with separated versions or user defined versions
Visualisation can be easily extended to new client PCs
No longer a development system but an open automation engineering platform suitable for extensions and integration of other solutions

CoDeSys V3 Basic is a 3-day training programme, developed and run by the German company, 3S Smart Software Solutions.  The course will be presented by 3S at MMU 27 to 29th October.

The course is for everyone who wants to know modern PLC programming. No prior knowledge of CoDeSys V2.3 or other PLC programming skills are required.

As an introductory, one-time offer, the course is priced at just 450. Don't miss it!
