Conference Call for Papers

PROFIBUS UK has issued a Call for Papers for its annual PROFIBUS &
PROFINET User Conference to be held at Stratford Manor, Stratford upon Avon, 29/30 June 2010.
The excellent feedback that was obtained from the previous conferences
clearly indicated that we should continue to focus on the User community. Consequently
the 2010 conference will concentrate on the real issues of implementation,
maintenance and management of PROFIBUS and PROFINET systems.
The
conference is designed for engineers, managers and indeed anyone concerned with
the real issues of implementing fieldbus and/or industrial Ethernet
technologies. The conference programme will contain a mixture of presentations,
demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions that are suitable for a wide variety
of experience; from first-time users to those with extensive experience with working
systems.
We now need speakers who are willing to make a short (30/40 minute)
presentation on applications and other user aspects of PROFIBUS and PROFINET.
Topics can include system design, commissioning and maintenance and can cover
any application area or industry sector. Interactive presentations featuring live
demonstrations and hands-on activities are particularly welcome. We are also
seeking proposals for papers covering the latest developments in PROFIBUS and
PROFINET technology as well as case studies illustrating their use in real
world applications.

Your chance to become a Certified PROFINET Engineer

In response to growing customer demand for PROFINET, the Team at MMU and PROCENTEC (the Netherlands-based PICC) have got together to bring Certified PROFINET Engineer training to the UK. Taking place in Manchester on 17 - 19 November, this 3-day training course provides a detailed technical
knowledge of the PROFINET technology and the advantages it offers your
automation and production processes. At the end of the training there
will be a theory exam. Participants who pass get the title Certified PROFINET
Engineer and are awarded an official certificate. Successful participants will
have the confidence to evaluate PROFINET as a solution for their automation
requirements and be able to design a proper application. Course pricing and Registration information |

Certified PROFIBUS
and PROFINET training modules for engineering students
In recognition of the
significant increase in global acceptance of PROFIBUS and PROFINET as market
leading open international standards for industrial networking and
communication that link sensors, drives, transmitters, and computers for
real-time systems, The Department of Engineering and Technology Automation
Systems Centre (ASCent) based at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) has
announced the launch of 3 new modules specifically for students looking to
start an interesting career in engineering.
As a fully accredited
PROFIBUS International Competence Centre MMU is able to offer training in
the necessary knowledge and skill sets to help students gain
industry-recognised certification. Through the training offered at MMU students
are able to take a number of exams covering theory and practical knowledge of
these subjects. Success in these tests leads to Certification recognised
world-wide by employers in industrial automation, process control or other
fields such as energy and environmental management.
Three Modules are currently
on offer:
PROFIBUS Module 1: Certified Open
PLC + Certified PROFIBUS Installer + PROFIBUS Commissioning and Maintenance.
PROFIBUS Module 2: Certified
Open PLC + Certified PROFIBUS Installer
+ Certified PROFIBUS Engineer.
PROFINET Module: Certified
Open PLC + Certified PROFINET Engineer.
The courses that these
modules have been derived from have been specially adapted to the needs of
students. Minimum entry requirement for
the student modules are possession or expectation of a degree at 2:2 or higher
in Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical,
Microcomputer or Networking discipline.
Certified PROFIBUS Engineers and Installers have the right to be
listed on the PROFITech section of the PI website , a site visited by millions of
