Greetings!
Welcome to September and the sweet promise of Spring.
Have you noticed the earth's energy awakening and heralding this new cycle of life? The pink and white cherry blossom are now fully in bloom and the jasmine is spreading its heady scent across the neighbourhood.
Soon we can start shedding some of the layers that have bound us over the winter months .. and stretch and run and embrace the early morning blue skies and crisp warm air.
Being so close the beach and many wonderful parklands we have so many opportunities to step into nature .. now is the time to release the stagnant energy of winter and enjoy new life and new beginnings! I hope you like my new newsletter (my new Spring beginning) let me know what you think.
Wishing you many blue sky days ...

| In the cycle of nature .. Spring is the new year |
|
... the season of renewal ...
Spring .. how magical it is to watch our world slowly awakening from it slumber, witnessing the pulse of nature quickening as we transition to blue skies, perfumed breezes and luscious warmer weather.
Can you hear Spring calling? .. the warm breeze encouraging us to throw open windows, clean out cupboards, pack away blankets and heaters, and detoxify within & without. Taking the time to harmonize with this natural rhythm honours our connection to the natural world cycle .. embracing the season of rebirth and renewal.
Spring is very much about cleansing, breathing, opening our bodies to the blissful fresh air and sunshine .. so too it can beckon us to consider stretching our personal horizons.
Savour springtime by simplifying and clearing your life .. commit to allowing only those things that truly revitalize mind, body and soul into your spring life.

| 9 Round Breathing Technique |
|
|
Find yourself a space on the floor or in a chair - somewhere you can feel the springtime sun shining on you. Cover yourself with a blanket and ensure you set a comfortable position.
As you release into the warmth of the sun, allow the light to penetrate deep within - imagine yourself out in nature surrounded by light, trees, birds and a gentle breeze.
Inhale and exhale through the nose - gently bringing all your attention to that single breath. With each breath allow your body to relax a little further; with each exhalation just let go a little more - moving deeper and deeper within yourself. When you feel deeply relaxed start the 9 Round Breathing exercise, just using your mental focus to imagine: 1. For three rounds of breathing - imagine as strongly as you can that you are breathing in through the left nostril and out through the right 2. For the next three rounds of breathing - reverse the process and breathe in through the right nostril and out through the left 3. For the final three rounds of breathing - focus on breathing in and out through both nostrils.
In meditation we deeply relax the body and calm the mind. When we still the mind we allow for new thoughts to arise, for spaciousness and healing to happen. In adopting this simple exercise for just 15 minutes a day you may transform yourself and those around you.

Eating for the season .. yum!
In ancient Greek mythology, spring is the time when the goddess Persephone comes back from the underworld, where she lives half the year with her husband, the god Hades. With her return to earth, the snows and cold of winter come to an end, allowing the flowers, fruit, and blossoms of spring to emerge. A delicious way to celebrate the abundance and rejuvenation of spring is by ensuring we remember to be mindful and appreciate the beautiful colours of Spring .. just as wonderful on our plate as in nature. It is quite natural in Spring to begin to eat a little more lightly, reducing our intake of the heavier complex carbohydrates and allowing our body to naturally cleanse and lighten. The gorgeous greens and orange colours of springtime visually capture our attention and point us in the right direction for eating. Appreciating and eating in harmony with the wide range of colours in season is a great way to ensure we get necessary vitamins and nutrients.
Broaden your appreciation of the amazing green vegetables available now, stir-frying and steaming to gain maximum nutrition : broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and silverbeet. Fruits such as pineapple and paw paw also contain natural digestive enzymes to help break down foods.
September - Early spring - fruit : apple, cumquat, grapefruit, lemon, mandarins, oranges (blood, Seville), papaya, pawpaw, pineapple and tangelo. | |

We believe that Meditation is a healthy and vital life skill.
Meditation allows us to find the 'pause' button in our busy, noisey, non-stop world. Taking a moment to just pause and breathe we allow the body to achieve a deep state of relaxation and the mind to settle into a space of stillness and calm. People meditate for many reasons .. to relax, let go of stress, improve health, develop greater focus and awareness, inspire creative thinking, cope better with change and the demands of life, and discover inner joy and clarity.
There is now a wealth of research validating how good meditation is for our health and general wellbeing .. not forgetting that meditation has been practiced and talked about for many thousands of years. Time to learn what all the talking is about?
Enjoy the arrival of Spring!
