Lower School Groundbreaking Set for May 17
We are thrilled to announce that our school will be breaking ground on our exciting Lower School renovation project on Thursday, May 17. The Groundbreaking Celebration will include a private donor and student celebration at 9:00 a.m. The GOA community is then invited to the Lower School Festival of the Arts & Groundbreaking Celebration at 6:30 p.m.
The project, which will modernize and revitalize the 60-year-old Lower School Campus, is part of our school's Building on Tradition campaign, which has a three-pronged focus: tuition assistance, academic excellence, and capital improvements. We thank Jane and Mark Wilf and the Wilf family for their $2 million lead capital gift for our Lower School renovation.
The Lower School renovation project calls for the refurbishment of existing spaces and an expansion of the building. Project highlights include the addition of a science discovery lab, a new technology lab, a specialty space for art and music, new library, updated and fully wired classrooms, a new Beit Knesset, new playground, increased accessibility, and upgraded office space. This renovation will ensure that Golda Och Academy continues to provide a first class education to our elementary school students. Upon completion, our facility will be a 21st century model school with the most advanced technology and learning spaces available.
More information about the project, as well as updates and project overview, are available on our LS Renovation website by clicking here. |

Robbins Family on a Mission to Build School in Ghana
For most people, a family vacation means Disney World, Israel, or lying in the sun on a faraway beach. But Ghana?
The Robbins family - whose daughters Arianna and Maya are at Golda Och Academy's 10th and 6th grades respectively - travelled to Ghana, Africa during Presidents' Week. And this was not a leisurely break from work and school. The Robbins family went on a mission to build a school in a village that is home to child slaves of the fishing trade - child slaves the Robbins family helped free.

A Buddy Seder
As part of the Golda Och Academy Buddy Program, Gan and fifth grade students celebrated Passover together with a mock seder this morning.
The students enjoyed sampling the traditional Pesach seder foods including matzah and charoset as well as parsley dipped in salt water. The children also sang Dayeinu and other Passover songs in celebration of the holiday that commemorates the Jewish exodus from Egypt. Passover begins at sundown Friday.
