Established in 1999...
by industry veterans Steve Brenneis, Gene Davis, and David Solomon. Together, the three principals represented a combined 70 years of experience in the Botanicals and Spice industry. Brenneis, Davis (deceased), and Solomon had previously worked together for 7 years. One evening, as they came together for dinner, they saw the opportunity to combine their experiences and fulfill a need within the raw materials industry. Hence, the beginning of BDS Natural Products.
 In September 1999, BDS Natural Products opened its doors to their first building in Carson, CA. With only the three of them, and no furniture or equipment, they diligently worked on their first sale and purchase of raw materials.
In the first year they acquired mills, blenders and added a second building across the way, which now totaled 30,000 square feet. BDS then had 7 employees all wearing different hats as their business was growing. Their dream and hard work paid off, and by 2005 they acquired their third building and another new mill system. Plus they began their delivery routes to local customers using their new truck.
2007 marked another great year of growth for BDS. With the demand for all natural products, BDS introduced a new dry steam-based sterilization system. This system, H20 Express, utilizes newly developed technology which facilitates rapid penetration of steam and transfer of heat throughout the materials being sterilized.
However, the most exciting news was the announcement of our accomplishment in the August 2007 "Hot 500" issue of Entrepreneur Magazine. BDS Natural Products was selected as one of the fastest growing businesses in the United States.
Since then, BDS built a full service on-site Quality Control Laboratory and a Research and Development Lab. In 2008, BDS moved its corporate offices and finished goods distribution to a 35,000 square foot facility approximately 2 miles from the BDS operations location.
Now BDS has a total of over 80,000 square feet and 60 employees working to meet your specifications.

Steve Brenneis Steve has been in the Nutraceutical industry for nearly 35 years. He began his career in the food industry with soy beans and lecithin, then ventured into the Nutritional Speciality Chemicals industry. Steve met his current partner during his tenure as Vice President of Sales for Botanicals International. Prior to BDS, he was General Manager of Muggenburg Herbal Products in Irvine. Steve has traveled worldwide in international sales and sourcing. |

David Solomon
David, a native of the United Kingdom, has been in the Spice and Botanical industry for 32 years. He started out in the Spice trade at the age of 21. David, who is in charge of purchasing and logistics at BDS, began his career with British Pepper & Spice Co. Previous companies include Vice President for Botanicals International in sourcing and Spice department. He was General Manager of the Whole Herb Co. in Sonoma, California. His knowledge and experience has lead to long-term relationships with growers worldwide. |
