4th of July Another Big Hit
Here's a look back at the weekend...
Members of Aluminum Marshmallow perform for the crowd to kick-off festivities on Saturday night.
Kids stomp their feet on the bubblewrap to simulate firecracker sounds during the 6th annual Bubblewrap Fireworks.
Members of Rocktail entertain the appreciative audience on Sunday the 4th.
Grand Marshal Lew Watanabe is joined by Phyllis Chapman and Jan Reed at the Open House at the Sierra Madre Woman's Club prior to the parade. All three have in the past been honored by the Chamber of Commerce as Citizens of the Year.
Louise Neiby, co-honoree as this year's Citizen of the Year, rides along the parade route. The band on her hat was sent to her nearly 30 years ago from Europe by her co-honoree, the late Dr. Paul Neiby, and is being held in place by one of Dr. Paul's tie pins.
Chamber Board member Allyn Colbert is in the driver's seat and Chamber Prez Matt Krantz rides the Chamber entry in the parade this year, encouraging the crowd to shop and dine in Sierra Madre.
The City's latest acquisition, a new Water Tender for the Fire Dept. continued the tradition of wetting down the audience, though new rules limited the audience's participation in water activities to getting wet, not getting others wet, except for a water zone in the park.
The Night Blooming Jazzmen were again a big hit providing post parade Dixieland jazz entertainment in the park.
