Mt. Wilson Trail Race is This Weekend
2010 Trail Race logo
The 102nd Anniversary of the first running of the Mt. Wilson Trail Race will be celebrated this weekend with a Pre-Race Pasta Feed in Kersting Court and the 44th running of the event.

Friday evening from 5 to 7, runners will have the opportunity to pre-register for Saturday morning's race and to load up on carbs at a pre-race Pasta Feed, with a delicious dinner provided by Chamber member Cafe 322.  There will be lots of potential customers for your business in the downtown area, are you prepared for them?

Saturday morning registration for the race begins at 6am, and the race will begin at 7:30am, sharp.  There will be friends and family of more than 300 runners in the downtown area until after the awards are distributed, ending probably around noon.  Kersting Court will be closed off and vendor booths set up, in addition to a beer garden.  Schoolkids' Trail Race art will be on display, so you can anticipate that families of the artists will be downtown joining the friends and families that are there to support the contestants.
And this year, The Mount Wilson Trail Race Committee is pleased to announce an all new component to the 2010 Mount Wilson Trail Race.  A live feed from the Mt. Wilson Trail will be broadcast to Kersting Court for spectators to view.  This will enable family and friends to watch runners of the Mount Wilson Trail Race when they are actually on the trail! Downtown Sierra Madre will have a captive audience, downtown businesses should take advantage of this excellent opportunity to draw these folks into their stores.
May Mixer at Historic Pinney House A Big Hit
Pinney Mixer
Approximately 75 people turned out to enjoy a brief presentation by property owner Greg Asbury on the history of this magnificent structure, built in 1887.  Asbury announced during his presentation that when the structure is restored, he and wife Judy hope to return it to its original intended use (lodging) by turning it into a bed and breakfast, featuring six bedroom suites.  Folks in the audience appeared to be unanimous in their support of this idea.  Sharon Coutant of A Better Nanny was excited to have won the Grand Prize that included Sierra Madre merchandise and a full year of passes to Chamber mixers.  Thanks to Greg and Judy Asbury for opening their home to the Chamber, and also thanks to Annette Osterhaut and Jan's Towing for their donation to the door prizes of three 4-packs of passes to Toyota Raceway of Irwindale.  Photos courtesy of SierraMadreNews.Net
