Sierra Madre Rose Float Nearly Complete!
When I stopped by the Rose Float barn today around 4pm, Rose Float Assn. Vice President Don Mills informed me that the barn had completely lost power.  Fortunately, while I was there Sierra Madre Fire Dept. personnel arrived with two gasoline powered generators, to supplement a generator that had already been provided by Public Works.  Construction head Dick Sappington assured Mills that the three generators would provide sufficient electricity to allow the construction to continue.  According to VP Mills, there's been some slight changes to the event schedule published last week.  Final judging has been pushed back till 10:33am, and the Kersting Court stopover will now be at 6:3(ish).  A lot of progress has been made since yesterday morning.  The pictures in the left column were taken yesterday around 10am.  The pictures in the right column were taken today, around 4pm.  The Rose Float Association is endeavoring to win its 5th consective award, let's all wish them the best of luck!! Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension State of the Project Luncheon
On December 18th, the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension celebrated its 10th anniversary with a "State of the Project" luncheon at the Glendora Country Club.  In addition to the luncheon, Workshops were held providing updates on the Project Schedule and Status, Project Funding and Financing, a Phase I Public Art Overview, and "Creating a Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley" by the artist that designed the iconic freeway structure.  Keynote speakers at the luncheon were Rep. Judy Chu of the 32nd Congressional District, Rep. David Dreier of the 26th Congressional District, and Rep. Adam Schiff of the 29th Congressional District.

Each of the Keynote Speakers, as well as three Assembly members in attendance, were presented with plaques by the San Gabriel Valley Legislative Coalition of Chambers.  The plaques were presented in gratitude for the efforts made by the recipients to help secure funding for the Gold Line Extension, and to encourage continued efforts on their part.  The plaques stated: "In appreciation of your leadership and recent efforts in support of the Gold Line Foothill Extension, a project that will create jobs and enhance the economic vitality of the San Gabriel Valley."

The Coalition's mission is "To serve as a public policy advocacy body on issues that impact the business and economic climate of the San Gabriel Valley."
