Howard County, MD - February 11th - "Snowmageddon" has come and gone. Unfortunately, we're now left with the clean-up. The melting snow can cause a number of problems in your home, including leaking or flooding.
As a trusted flooring replacement and repair specialist to all the major insurance carriers, we wanted to share a few tips to help you prevent flooding or leaking and what to do in the event of a flood or leak in your home or office.
- Shovel snow and ice 3 feet away from sliding glass doors, ground level windows and any below ground window or stairwells
- Remove snow or ice blocking ground level drain spouts (do NOT climb on rooftops, call an expert)
- Stay vigilant and check basement walls, windows and floors for moisture regularly
In the event of damage:
- Take pictures and make a list of damaged items (i.e., furniture, electronics, etc)
- Don't throw anything away until you contact your insurance company. If necessary, place damaged items in a trash bag and set aside until inspection
- Begin to pull receipts (if you have them) for any of the damaged items
- Ask us about insurance replacement discounts should you decide not to file a claim
