Greetings! Heidi Elliott

Happy Holidays!

I hope you have a very joyous holiday season filled with family, friends, good food, music and holiday magic.

It's been very busy here at Beanstalk Marketing. So busy that I didn't get out a November newsletter. But I'm so thankful for the work right now. Thank you for your support.

Enjoy the season! Let it snow!

Social Media ROI

Measuring your return on investment in marketing is always challenging. Measuring social media is no different. However because the medium is online, there are many real numbers to pull to show the direction your campaign is going. Here are a few ideas.

  • Web site visits
  • Downloads
  • Response to offers
  • Blog & RSS subscribers
  • Fans and followers
  • Reviews on Yelp
  • Online surveys
  • Pass-along (share, RT)
  • Engagement
  • Feedback

Like every other kind of marketing, social media is best measured by growth - in attention, action and sales. First you must establish your baseline before social media efforts and compare that to numbers after the campaigns.

Start tracking your social media efforts now and see how quickly things can grow, with very little investment. Let me know how it goes.

Social Media Class a Success

I taught my first social media class last month. It was a wonderful group of art organization advisors, a subgroup of one of my clients. There were about 25 people in the room, all of them accomplished in their fields.

I had a chance to survey the group before the class and it became clear that I had a full range of social media experience - from absolute beginners (sometimes called "the terrified") to real experts (who had a thing or two to teach me). Yet the two hours were a learning experience for all. Instead of a lecture and Q&A I led a discussion where I shared my ideas and everyone participated. The feedback after the class indicated that two hours was not enough time.

I enjoyed this experience tremendously and realized how much I like to teach, present and open doors for people. If you know of opportunities where I could teach this class again, please let me know.

I also have a special gift for my newsletter readers. I created a document called "Social Media: Digging Deeper" which features 25 additional resources that I didn't get to go over in the class. If you would like a copy simply reply to this email and I'll send it to you.
