"Open your heart - open it wide; someone is standing outside." ~Mary Engelbreit |
Is the heart online?
Eyes versus Wireless When is the last time you stepped outside and looked into someone else's eyes? With the growth of technology, many of us have become computerized. There's Facebook, MySpace, blogs and twitters... and when used with intelligence and moderation they enable us to connect and share. However, I personally find that they can also be social inhibitors. Electronic interaction has amazing connecting abilities, but it also makes us less personalized. There's a whole world outside, and it requires us to look beyond the monitor. Life is more meaningful thru the eyes of another.
Talking thru the keyboard really isn't so grand. Nothing compares to the invigorating energy that is felt thru the touch of a hand. A personal email is definitely special. Text messages make life nice, but do not soothe like the sound of a voice. A picture helps us to look our best, but is friendship really a test? Does compassion need to be advertised or is it in the eyes? Yes, it's easy to look cool online, but to truly market our hearts we must make face-to-face time.

"The best kind of friend is the one you could sit on a porch with, never saying a word, and walk away feeling like that was the best conversation you've had." ~Author Unknown |
