2011 Science & Math Summer Academy

For Incoming Harris Stowe Freshmen

Greetings!

There is an exceptional math and science educational opportunity for 2011 graduating high school seniors that have been admitted to attend Harris Stowe State University in the Fall.

One opportunity is the Academy for Science and Mathematics. 50 incoming freshmen will be selected to reside on-campus with all expenses paid. Students that successfully complete the five-week Academy, and that are officially enrolled in Harris-Stowe University in 2011 will receive a $1,000 stipend. Details of the program requirements are noted below.

Science & Math Academy Application Requirements

1. All 2011 Science and Math Academy applicants must be accepted to attend Harris Stowe University in August 2011. (For more information about admission requirements, visit their website at: https://live.hssu.edu/ics/Admissions/)

2 letters of recommendations. At least one letter must be submitted by a math or science high school teacher. No letters from relatives are permitted.

A typed personal statement of interest from the student on why he or she is attending the 2011 Science and Math Academy.

The deadline is Friday, May 20, 2011. Please complete a cover sheet that includes the number of pages, and fax the application documents to the attention of Dr. Tommie Turner, Director for the Institute of Sciences and Mathematics at fax number 314-340-3398.
