shellac

Shellac- The new trend in nails! Shellac is a hybrid made of half nail polish, half gel. The product is thin and strong enough to be applied similarly to nail polish, but it is cured in a way to give it great flexibility and durability. The polish is cured by UV light and nails are left completely dry by the time the manicure is over (this is different from a traditional manicure that takes up to 2 to 3 hours to dry). Shellac nails last up to 14 days without losing shine or shimmer and won't damage nail beds. Shellac is also unique in that you can take off the polish at home! No fancy tools or products are needed to remove the polish. All you need is traditional acetone fingernail polish remover.

Patty Patterson, nomiSpa's newest addition, is a Nail Therapist certified in Shellac Nails. Call 601-948-3429 for more information or to book an appointment. For more information on nomiSpa, click here.

matzo

Passover Chocolate Toffee Matzo

Ingredients:

12 oz chocolate chips

1 C pecans, sliced

1 C butter

1 C brown sugar, packed

1/2 lb matzos

Directions:

Preheat oven to 450. Line 2 jellyroll pans with aluminum foil wrap. Spread the matzo on the pans in a single layer with no space between the pieces (break matzo as needed to fill pan). Melt butter and brown sugar on stove. Boil until mixture coats a spoon (about 3-5 mins). Pour mixture over matzo and spread evenly with knife. One sheet at a time, bake for 4 mins in the middle of the oven. As soon as pan is removed from oven, sprinkle 1/2 of the chocolate chips on the matzo. Return pan to oven for 1 extra min. Using a table knife, carefully spread the chocolate over the motzo as completely as possible. Sprinkle top with 1/2 of sliced pecans. Repeat with second pan. Place in refrigerator to cool.
