AFT Celebrates Mercedes-Benz Sunday July 15 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Featuring Water Color Renditions By Award Winning Artist Mike Hill. Gullwing Bird of Paradise
The 2011 AMG Mercedes Gullwing. A mirror image painting showing the symmetry of the car with the gullwing doors open and the Bird of Paradise painted as a mirror image as well. I thought it would be a cool design. Mike Hill
Der Wunderbar 540K
During so many years of my childhood I remember seeing this car in newsreels and books. The 1938 Mercedes Benz 540K was the car seen so often seen as the vehicle of choice by infamous Nazi dignitaries especially Hitler. While we all loathe everything about these terrible leaders, we cannot help admiring one of the grandest cars of all time. I painted this car with a dark background resembling the Black Forest of Germany and gave it a look of moonlight rather than sunlight, which I thought, was more appropriate. Mike Hill Reflecting on a Mercedes
Portland Art Museum broke with tradition and put on this classic car show acknowledging car design as truly works of art. This 1953 Mercedes was a standout as was the Gull Wing Mercedes seen as the reflected image. Mike Hill |
