Youth and MFP Make Beautiful Music Together

 
After completing their first project last year, the youth involved in our SEI program were asked what they wanted to do next.  Their unanimous response?  Music!

Youth at the turn tables

Over the last several months, young people have been hard at work recording and producing their own tracks in MFP's new recording studio.  The end result of the youth-driven project will be a mixtape featuring original songs and pieces ranging from spoken word to acoustic guitar.

At the same time, they have been learning valuable business skills such as marketing and distribution and engaging in conversations about the role of music in creating social change.

SEI is a collaboration between My Friend's Place and USC.  We are so proud of the incredible work of the youth and grateful for our partners helping us make a difference in the lives of homeless youth!

Great Urban Race - April 16th

Our friends at Red Frog Events have chosen MFP as the local charity partner for the Great Urban Race in Los Angeles this Saturday, April 16th.  Participants will get a wild urban adventure, solve clues, pass challenges, and experience the city in a fresh way!

As we head towards the end of our fiscal year, please consider keeping the momentum going with a contribution to help homeless youth.  We have $200,000 left to raise to meet our budget for the year and ensure that our programs are able to meet the needs of youth in need.  

MFP has always survived and thrived thanks to the generosity and support of our community, and we need your help!
  1. Consider making a one-time or ongoing contribution to My Friend's Place today.
  2. Designate a large gift as a matching "challenge grant" to motivate friends, family, and other supporters to get involved.
  3. Attend or sponsor our upcoming CIRCUS SPECTACULAR event in June.
  4. Spread the word!  Find us on Facebook and post to your news feed or forward this email to your friends and family.

Out of here I come
A mommy I come

And making bottles
and changing diapers
at home I am.
The horrible chapter in my life is over,
