As part of National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, YSA is proud to be supporting 70 Sodexo grantees - 25 Sodexo Youth grantees, 25 Sodexo School Engagement grantees, and 20 Sodexo Lead Organizer grantees - who are all engaging youth in service and service-learning projects to end childhood hunger. MLK Day Lead Organizer Grants
Deadline: November 18
YSA and CNCS are proud to support up to 16 MLK Day Lead Organizers with $4,000 planning grants to coordinate Martin Luther King Day of Service (January 16, 2012) activities. This grant program is open to nonprofit organizations, K-12 schools, and colleges & universities in all 50 states and DC. Grantees will be required to engage at least 3,000 volunteers in community service or service-learning projects on MLK Day, build or strengthen partnerships with at least 5 partner organizations, and address one or more strategic issue areas. Sodexo Youth Grants
Deadline: January 17
YSA will award 100 Sodexo Youth Grants of $500 each to support youth-led service projects in the United States that address the issue of childhood hunger on Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2012). We're looking for projects that engage your peers, friends, families, neighbors, Sodexo employees, and other community members in creative, youth-inspired solutions to ending childhood hunger in your community. Over 17 million children in the United States live at risk of hunger. What's Your M.O.? Video Contest
Deadline: November 28
YSA along with Monique Coleman and GimmeMo are proud to present the What's Your M.O.? video contest for youth. Coleman, an actress, singer, activist and United Nations Youth Champion dedicated to empowering today's youth, created What's Your Mo with YSA as a chance for teens to tell what their Mo' is, what teens are passionate about, and what they are doing to make a difference. This contest is for teens ages 13 to 18. Videos must be :60-:90 seconds. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube with the tag "What's Your M.O.?" and the link emailed to communications@ysa.org. The winning video will be featured on Coleman's online show at Gimmemo.com and the winner will receive a personal 15 minute Skype video call with Coleman. Learn more at www.YSA.org/whatsyourmo

Everyday Young Hero Awards
Deadline: Ongoing
Awarded weekly to a young person from around the world who exemplifies an extraordinary commitment to service, the Everyday Young Hero Award program is open to youth ages 5-25. Nominations must come from a parent, teacher or other adult mentor. Winners are announced in the NSB, featured on YSA's website and showcased within its social media outlets. Everyday Young Heroes also receive a certificate, award and press release. Nominate a young person you know to be recognized as an Everyday Young Hero at www.YSA.org/awards/hero

Youth Garden Grants
Deadline: November 28
The National Gardening Association awards Youth Garden Grants to schools and community organizations with child-centered garden programs. 5 winners will receive gift cards valued at $1,000, and 95 winners will receive $500 gift cards, for the purchase of gardening materials and supplies specific to the needs of their program from their local Home Depot store. Schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs, treatment facilities, and inter-generational groups throughout the U.S. are eligible. Humane Education Grants
Deadline: November 30
The Humane Society of the United States is accepting applications for the new Humane Education Mini-Grant, designed to fund classroom teachers who lead innovative, standards-based programs and curricula in humane education, specifically the teaching of kindness and respect for animals and their natural habitats. Applicants must be K-12 certified teachers working at a public, private, or parochial school. Projects should engage students in hands-on activities that lead to the acquisition of new knowledge, awareness, or self-discovery as they relate to humane education. http://bit.ly/w0ELZY

Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarships
Deadline: December 5
The Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarships recognize and reward students who have made a significant impact in the fight against hunger. The scholarship recipients each receive $5,000 for their education as well as a $5,000 matching grant in their name for the hunger-related charity of their choice. Sholarships are open to students (Kindergarten through graduate school) enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the United States. Applicants must have demonstrated on-going commitment to their community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States at least within the last 12 months. http://bit.ly/qImcz3

Katie's Krops Grant
Deadline: December 5
Katie's Krops is excited to announce a new grant opportunity for kids ages 9 to 16 to start a vegetable garden to feed people in need in their communities. The winner will be awarded a gift card to a garden center in their area (up to $400), support from Katie's Krops, and a digital camera to document the garden and the harvest. Applications for all types of vegetable gardens, such as a container garden if you live in a city or a vegetable garden located in your neighborhood or at your school, will be considered. Applicants must be between the ages of 9 and 16 as of October 1, 2011. http://bit.ly/mUscKv

2011 Campus "Champions of Change" Challenge
Deadline: December 9
The White House Office of Public Engagement and mtvU are proud to announce the first ever Campus "Champions of Change" Challenge. The Challenge invites college and university students from across the country to demonstrate how their student led project is improving their campus community and helping America win the future. Submit an online application detailing your student-led program. The White House will select 15 finalists. The public will then have an opportunity to weigh in and vote on the top five projects. The top five finalists will be named Campus Champions of Change, featured on MTVu and MTV.com, and will be invited to the White House for a culminating event. http://1.usa.gov/t8VEex

2012 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll
Deadline: December 9
The 2012 Honor Roll will accept applications in two categories for service performed during the 2010-2011 academic year: (1) General Community Service recognizes the quality of, quantity of, and commitment to community service initiatives at a college or university. (2) Special Focus Area recognizes exemplary initiatives aligned with the President's education and innovation priorities. CNCS will select six institutions - three from each category - as Presidential Award winners. All higher education institutions are welcome to apply. Whole Kids Foundation & FoodCorps School Garden Grants
Deadline: December 31
The Whole Kids Foundation and partner FoodCorps offer $2,000 grants, along with curriculum, resources and mentorship, to 1,000 schools. FoodCorps' expertise in gardening, and its ongoing support will help schools build and sustain their gardens to ensure long-term success. All schools and garden-related nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for grants to support the launch or expansion of school gardens that will help children engage with fresh fruits and vegetables. 2012 AmeriCorps Grants
Deadline: January 18
AmeriCorps awards grants to organizations to implement programs that utilize AmeriCorps members to engage in evidence-based interventions to strengthen communities. In the 2012 competition CNCS expects to invest a significant amount of available funding to programs working in the six Focus Areas of Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental Stewardship, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. In particular, CNCS seeks to target its AmeriCorps grantmaking in the Education, Disaster Services and Veterans and Military Families Focus Areas. http://bit.ly/pBIpCw
