For ten years, State Farm has partnered with YSA to mobilize and engage youth through Global Youth Service Day™ and Semester of Service™, to support thousands of service and service-learning projects with grant funding, and to provide training and resources to the field at no cost.
This year, State Farm is supporting YSA with a major grant, the largest one-time gift in YSA's history. YSA is proud to recognize State Farm as:
-
Presenting Sponsor, Global Youth Service Day
-
Presenting Sponsor, Semester of Service
-
Program Sponsor, GYSD Lead Agency Grants
-
Program Sponsor, State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grants
-
Program Sponsor, Youth Service Institute
This year, 225 schools and community organizations will receive grants worth $425,000 -- more than any other year in our 10 year partnership. One of YSA's signature State Farm programs, the GYSD Lead Agency grant program, has grown from ten grantees for GYSD 2002 to 100 grantees for GYSD 2012. This growth ensures that YSA will award over $1 million in grants for the second year in a row. Over the ten year period of YSA's partnership with State Farm, YSA has awarded over 1,700 grants worth over $3 million total from 2002 through 2012.
"Being able to work with YSA and impact the lives of so many young people in America and around the world in meaningful service and service-learning is a major goal and accomplishment for State Farm," says State Farm's Kathy Payne, Senior Director for Education Leadership. "It's been a great decade working together and we look forward to many more years to come."
YSA and State Farm share the conviction that youth are assets right now and that youth voice today is the answer to tomorrow. Through this partnership, YSA and State Farm engage young people in solving the world's most challenging problems, one neighborhood, one school, and one community at a time.
