WOW 10

Greetings!

There are a lot of thanks to be shared for the efforts this month.

Staff Parish Relations Committee -
Thanks for the efforts to welcome us back for another appointive year on July 11.  I was deeply touched by the notes, cards, gifts and the presence of the church community at the dinner following church that day.  I am blessed to be appointed to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and blessed to share ministry with all of you.  Thank you to the members of the Staff Parish for the time and effort putting together the celebration that Sunday.

Vacation Bible School Team - Thanks to everyone who helped provide food, craft materials, planning, who walked with kids, led sessions, decorated and cleaned-up.  Your efforts and contributions added up to a VBS that all of us are very proud to have offered to our community.  It was a great week and a wonderful Sunday celebration this past week.  It couldn't have happened without the great volunteers of PVUMC!

"Ways Of Worship" - The Worship Committee and Education Council are teaming up to provide a series of special Sunday school sessions for the whole church in August.  Since I will be preaching on Passionate worship, we will be experiencing and studying different forms of worship throughout the whole month.  You won't want to miss these classes and the opportunity to learn as a church what it means to be in passionate worship.  Remember that 8:30 worship begins at 8:15 throughout the month of August.

For those looking for a church home..."Pizza with the Pastor" - Sunday, August 8 following the 10:45 worship, I will hold another "Pizza with the Pastor."  This is an opportunity for anyone wanting to learn more about the vision, mission and future of Pleasant Valley UMC to discuss it with me.  You will also hear how you can best get involved with PV as a new member of this church family.  Contact me, Pastor Nathan Stanton at nathans@pvumc.com or Jacque Marr at jacquem@pvumc.com to let us know you will be in attendance.  Lunch is free (pizza of course!) and you will be done no later than 1:30p.m.

Rituals of late summer - This church continues to bless one another and our community with prayers, cards, visits and the opportunity to gather each week in fellowship and worship.  August and September are always great months for encouragement and opportunities to invite folks to join you at special church opportunities.  As we move through rituals of beginning again and even starting over another year school year, we are also looking for means of support to help us through those times.  Relationships through a church family and a connection to God in a life of worship can sustain us all in those times.  Be mindful of this as you enter into these rituals of renewal in the coming months.

And remember, don't deny anyone the light of Christ, but, pass it on with the knowledge that it will light other folks lives just as it has yours.

Grace and peace to you all,
Nathan D. Stanton
Senior Pastor,
Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church

EARNEST ALEXANDER, Next SUNDAY ~ 10:45 Worship Service
You are invited to hear Earnest Alexander at the 10:45 worship service on Sunday, August 1.  Earnest is an evangelist gospel singer who has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.  He has performed in England, Italy, Romania,Poland, Germany, Israel, and Russia spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through song and the spoken word.  Earnest Alexander is currently President of Youth Horizons which is devoted to serving troubled and at-risk children in the Wichita area.  Earnest is also a graduate of Friends University.  During the service a free-will offering will be taken to help support Youth Horizons, so I would encourage you to support this wonderful organization with your gifts.  I am quite sure you will be blessed by Earnest's singing.  He is truly a man of God with a wonderful mission.
