I'm excited about this weekend. Sunday offers the opportunity to move past an important mark in time for Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. We are moving into the third year of the "Igniting Leaders for a New Century" campaign.
As I have said previously, if we continue at our current pace of giving toward becoming a "Church Beyond the Debt" in 2011, we will be within $100,000 of being paid off by May 30 2011. This is OUR accomplishment to celebrate! It is because of your faithfulness and trust in God's love for us all that this church has sacrificed so deeply to move us toward a miraculous moment in this church's life.
As we celebrate "Heritage Sunday" this Sunday, we are also celebrating moving into a year of expectation that we will continue to live as a church that is Eliminating the debt on our building, Empowering our current leaders and ministries and Envisioning new ministries to reach new generations of Christians!
This is our family's story right now. Sunday we are going to celebrate the rich heritage of the past that is still with us. We can celebrate the important movement toward becoming a church beyond the debt. And, we can celebrate the hope for the future each of us has in Christ Jesus who offers us new life each day we live these blessed lives!
Let's pack the house Sunday. It's a family thing.
