The Blessed Intrusion of Birth
Having had the opportunity to visit several families either in the hospital or by phoneCross and Flame following the birth of their new children, I am very aware of the difference it makes in the life of those for whom this blessed event has occured.  There is change in the life of new parents.  Nights are no longer restful (nor will they be the rest of your life I think).  And, more people in the house means more clothes to clean, more mouths to feed and more energy bouncing to and fro.  To give birth to new children is a blessed intrustion because, as any parent will atest, it is hard but it is all worth it in the end.

This Sunday, through the power of the Holy Spirit, our church will be giving birth to seven new Christians .  Five young persons have finished the confirmation class here at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.  Their young lives of faith have been planted with seeds of faith, watered with the witness of many and nurtured with deep instruction toward this moment.  So, Sunday is a day we celebrate their decision to follow Christ and to become part of the the Body of Christ.  Their decision is a blessed intrusion to the church and to the world because, as they will promise through their vows on Sunday, they will become part of the praying, worshipping, giving, serving and witnessing community of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church!  By joining us in this blessed lifetime vocation of the Christian faith, and like each of us who made this promise, they will light the world with Christ's love!

Join us Sunday as we celebrate the commitments made to serve Christ by Samantha Greene, Anna Hartman, Allie Jenkins, Emily Hall and Grant Heiman.  May we receive them with the joy and love we receive any newborn into our lives!

Grace,
Pastor Nathan Stanton

Heritage sunday

Heritage Sunday, June 6
We are listening to a few of the stories of faith of the people who were part of helping begin Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in 1952.  As we prepare to enter the final year of the "Igniting Leaders for a New Century" campaign, we are remembering and celebrating the family of faith called Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church as we live toward becoming a "church beyond the debt."  On June 6, we will gather as a family to share some great time together following the 10:45 worship celebration.
Heritage Sunday Highlights...
- Make your mark on the timeline when you and/or your family became part of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Family and put a pin in the city map where you live
- On Heritage Sunday, put on a nametag that is color coded according to which generation you are part of in this church family
- Join the church following church to eat, fellowship and listen to some of the dreams of the church of the future!
