Greetings!
Everyday Sacrifices
I heard a story this week of a college golfer who made a sacrifice in the midst of a national championship. The golfer purposely hit a shot into the trees to ensure that the player from another school he was playing with that day would move on in the tournament. By doing so, the other player would have the chance to play another day to become a national champion in college golf. Whether or not you agree with someone in competition blowing a chance like this on purpose the point for me so close to Mother's Day is how often mothers, fathers and adults blow our own chances on purpose in order empower our children to be successful. And, we do it gladly!
Traditionally, Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church celebrates the graduation of our high school seniors on Mother's Day. 2010 is no different. We celebrate the accomplishments of these young persons and the new beginnings of their lives. Join me Sunday in our worship celebration as we give thanks to God for our 2010 graduates! And, thanks to all of those moms, dads and surrogate moms and dads who have hit the ball into the trees from time to time to make us all the people we have become!
"At The Corner" is just around the corner!

Heritage Sunday, June 6
We are listening to a few of the stories of faith of the people who were part of helping begin Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in 1952. As we prepare to enter the final year of the "Igniting Leaders for a New Century" campaign, we are remembering and celebrating the family of faith called Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church as we live toward becoming a "church beyond the debt." On June 6, we will gather as a family to share some great time together following the 10:45 worship celebration.
