"Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above..."

James 1:17

24 HOURS

February 7, 2010
Greetings!

Life is a lot about perseverence.  It helps immensely when that perseverence is bolstered by friends and family on the journey with you.  We are coming to the season of Lent.  Forty days of preparation for the feast of Holy Week and Resurrection Sunday, Easter!  In many ways, the Lenten season is a time of perseverance as well.  We join with Jesus on the journey to the cross and ultimately to his resurrection.  Jesus' journey is one that we will follow closely this year.

I want to invite you to join me on the journey toward Resurrection Sunday this year by reading along "24 Hours that Changed the World," by Adam Hamilton.  You also have the opportunity to join a small group and worship passionately together each week around the theme of the book.  This is a great opportunity for you to grow and persevere toward the goal of transformation in the resurrected one, Jesus Christ.

I invite you to begin thinking about how you will journey through Lent this year.

Grace and Peace to you all,
Nathan D. Stanton

Now it's your turn to fight hunger in the event that is transforming Super Bowl Weekend into the nation'slargest youth-led weekend of giving and serving.  How can you help?  We are asking that you drop $1, $5, or $10 in the soup pot as you leave services on this day.  All proceeds go to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Haiti Emergency relief efforts.
