Dear Pleasant Valley Friends and Family,

Each of us has a vision for what a Christian disciple looks like.  Someone who supported us, someone who spoke a word of comfort to us or someone who held us accountable at some point in our lives.  Perhaps it was the people who raised us.  Maybe it was a teacher.  Whatever the case, we have the opportunity to remember those persons and give thanks to God for their presence in our lives.  Sunday we will give witness to these individuals by reading their names and offering their families the opportunity to light a candle in their memory.

This is an important and powerful Sunday in the life of the Christian faith  I look forward to seeing all of you in worship this Sunday as we commune with God through the sacrament of Holy Communion and remember the Saints of God who surround us and cheer us on as we live faithful lives.

Have a blessed and safe weekend.

Grace and Peace to you all,
Nathan D. Stanton

"For the Love of God," Fair

  Fellowship Hall

November 1 - 8, 2009
What do I do with what I have studied during the "5 Practices of Fruitful Congregations," study?

Here is your answer!!
Attend the "For the Love of God," Fair the next two Sundays in Fellowship Hall.  You will have plenty of opportunity this coming year to practice what you have begun to learn about through this study by committing to help out with the different ministries of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.

Ministries will be divided into five categories:
Radical Hospitality
Passionate Worship
Intentional Faith Development
Risk-Taking Mission
Extravagant Generosity

Many of you will be receiving commitment cards in the mail in order to record the commitments you make while attending the fair.  These will be utilized as a special offering to God on Sunday, November 8, during worship service.

If you do not receive cards in the mail they will be available for you at the fair.

Everyone is welcome to participate whether you are a member of Pleasant Valley UMC or not!!

I know that you have been blessed this past month with the study and worship series.
