Mayor Johnson joins Greyhound, River District and City of Sacramento in Groundbreaking Ceremony  The City of Sacramento broke ground on the new Greyhound Terminal on August 18 and visitors to the area can see work underway on the $7.6 million project. The three-acre site located at 420 Richards Boulevard includes a 10,000 square foot facility that will be home to Greyhound beginning in early 2012. The project also includes construction of an extension of Sequoia-Pacific between Richards and Bannon St. and construction of the Bannon St. intersection. The street improvements will accommodate and improve traffic access and circulation. Greyhound's move to The River District will come with a number of terminal and operational enhancements that will provide for more efficient bus service, improved safety and better accommodations for passengers and controlled waiting areas. |

MatriScope Engineering Laboratories Announces Corporate Office Relocation and Expansion
MatriScope Engineering Laboratories, a local provider of geotechnical engineering, construction inspection and material testing services since 1995, has relocated to Sacramento's up-and-coming River District. The new facility, located at 601 Bercut Drive, will accommodate the company's current staff as well as its materials testing laboratory, allowing for immediate expansion and future growth. "Our new location allows us to expand our testing laboratory capabilities and enhances our operational efficiencies in order to keep pace with out client's needs," said Robert Tadlock, MatriScope's General Manager.

Activity Spurs Local Economy But May Impact Traffic Flow 
Projects in The River District will invest up to $200 million in our local economy, spurring jobs and activity in a challenging economy. A tour of projects currently or soon-to-be underway includes:
Township Nine: Construction of the Light Rail Station and site preparation for infrastructure;
Sacramento Regional Transit: Construction underway for the Green Line extension to The River District, scheduled to open early in 2011;
California Lottery: Construction underway for a new headquarters on North 10th Street, scheduled for summer 2011 completion;
Greyhound Terminal: Construction on the new Greyhound Terminal and street improvements scheduled for completion next year (terminal occupancy in 2012);
Richards/I-5 Interim Access Improvements: Improvements to the Richards/I-5 intersection along with access improvements on Jibboom and Bercut Streets. The 18-month construction is scheduled to begin late 2010/early 2011.
